    Re: Friends of the Abacos

You may find useful information at charitynavigator.com.

As if the situation weren't unfortunate enough, the propensity of people to steal from charitable donations meant for the victims of disasters like this is sadly well-known. As noted, check out who you're sending your money and supplies to, before you send them. Sometimes it's better to wait.

Agreed, unfortunately during these type of events fraud does occur. However, giving direct to specific reputable organizations can provide the most benefit. The Green Turtle Cay / Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund (link below) has been put together by the Showell Family (who owns the Green Turtle Club) and friends who have a direct interest to help the people of Green Turtle Cay.

I have spent many wonderful times in the Abacos (as many here) and a vast majority of it with the wonderful and loving people of Green Turtle Cay. I have donated with confidence knowing this will have a direct and positive impact to the people who have provided so much hospitality and generosity over the years.

All donations are run through Green Turtle Cay Foundation which is a 501c3 charity so all generosity is tax deductible

    David,
I have been trying to reach out to several government officials with no luck yet. I run our family owned construction company which has been in business, under the same name since 1970. No legal issues or nonsense ever and are well known as the most ethical, honest and reputable builders around. We've been building in FL, CT and in the Hamptons in NY for decades. I know the Bahamas well and have been boating there since 1985.
I want to help and can bring building supplies and crews over but I'd really like to utilize as many local tradespeople and labor as possible.
I can organize the plan of where to begin and see it through till everything is back up and running. I would happily relocate with my family for however long is needed.
If you know who I could contact, please let me know or forward my information.
    Thank you!

Drone video of White Sound Green Turtle Cay i shot a couple of days ago. We brought a few thousand pounds of supplies and served hundreds of hot meals. Heavy damage but the community is strong and hard at work. Well organized.
