I am looking for anyone who had to replace the Orings of the steering piston of a 1965 41DC.
The old rings are about 1 3/8 ID, but when in place, they seem to be a very lose. it looks like they are 1/8 thick, but the it looks like they should be 1/4 thick, as the grove on the piston is slightly wider than 1/8.
My questions: Should these o rings be oversized (1/4 thick vs 1/8)?
Should the o ring be slightly loose (easily wiggles) when in place or should it be very snug? (1 5/16 is really tight and 1 3/8 is slightly wiggly)

Is it a hynautic ram?
I'd buy the kit. the size and shape type of oring matters. Also the materials it's made of.Scott

I replaced the helm pump and with a seastar hydraulic pump, and got rid of the hynautic reservoir. There are no brand/ model markings on the steering cylinder at the back by the rudders.
