Their tanks are still made from FRP, but they use a resin that is resistant to degradation by ethanol. The key thing is that I don't know when they changed over to ethanol.
The other puzzling part of this is WHY they would have made the change. In 1983 or 84 I don't think pump gasoline even contained ethanol. And I don't know when Hatteras stopped building boats with gasoline engines. But it might be possible to find out from Steve McPherson; he would know if anyone would.

When I bought a 90 HP Evinrude for my runabout in '85 OMC went on quite a bit about alcohol resistant fuel hose. So there must have been something going on then. Maybe they had been bit by the push for Gasohol during the OPEC embargo in the late '70s, but it was definitely on their RADAR back then. So Hatteras was probably concerned about it too.
