Get'n ready for our TEXAS vacation - Episode I

Here are the basics of getting the boat ready when you want to fly out on vacation

    https://youtu.be/yrdwaRPpEDA

It's a little different than when you live on land but, definitely necessary.

The MASTERPLAN is now available for charter. Check out our cruise options at masterplanmiami.com

Saying good bye to our house to live on a boat must have been on the back of our minds but the MASTERPLAN came to life when I started seeing other YouTubers. Billy and Sierra were the most influential. Their page is called Tula's Endless Summer. Here is the link to their channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/FIKITEnSUP Billy is knowledgable and likes rotTO share the HOW TO's of living on a boat. I've learned a lot from Billy and the more I watch, the more I know I can do it.

We've also been watching others like Sailing La Vagabonde at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZdQ...

and Fishing with Luiza at https://www.youtube.com/FishingwithLuiza

Be very careful how you operate and advertise your charter business as the USCG has been cracking down on what they call illegal charters. If you re going to advertise and carry over 6 pax there are a number of rules you must follow including

    - charterer must pay the crew separately under a separate contract
    - charterer must pay fuel, dockage and provisions
    - charterer must be able to pick the crew
    - owner can not be on board during charter

The coast guard has been terminating charters on a weekly basis and imposing fines of over $40k.... yes, no a typo, over forty thousand dollars. If you dont exceed 6 pax, then the above doesnt apply but advertising 10 guests is a big red flag, especially with a live aboard vessel.

Sector miami has even set up a facebook page to educate operators and charterers

Thank you. Noted. I totally intend on being by the books. Your comment made me look at my page and I realize the needed correction. Check it out and let me know if that seems clear enough.

Better. You don’t have to say charterer must select captain... you just have to give them the option and you can “recommend”’ a crew. As long as it is not you

Also, bareboat charters can be up to 12 people plus the charterer.

We were boarded a few years back by the USCG charter enforcement team at marine stadium. Back then we were running a 70 footer (under 100GT). I had both the boat and crew contracts available. Coasties were happy. Charterers don’t really care to pick the crew, they will take the brokers recommendation... in the real world using the boat regular crew makes for a smoother charter as the crew is familiar with the boat

Now we run an 84 footer that’s over 100GT so we can take up to 12 as a uninspected vessel and don’t have to resort to bareboat. That said we don’t do day charters here anymore, Only Exumas charters.

Nice. Thanks for all that info. I also have contracts ready to present. Goal is to do it by the books and have a great time doing it. We have a Captain and Crew that we recommend.
