Talking Re: Northeast '19! - The Northeast Rendezvous

Hopeful newbie to your group, FLUFF, 1979 43DCMY. We just delivered from Lake Champlain thru the canals and down the Hudson, and we were SO excited, planning to join your rendezvous, BUT... On our way South, the flange on the raw water intake of our DD 371T starboard broke apart as we were changing the engine zincs for saltwater. Apparently this had happened before, because the flange was broken then epoxied back together. We did the same made it to our home port: Brewer YY Glen Cove. Flange cannot be ordered — DD, J&T... “they don’t make it anymore.” So, had original braised together, installed same. Bronze became porous when welded, so leaks worse than before! Now will have new one fabricated (AND a spare). Long story short, sitting at pier here in GC wishing we were there with y’all on BI... even though FLUFF isn’t there, we are with you in spirit... and you have our sea story for cocktail hour, at least one of them... another sea story about the attack of the biting deer flies later...Anyone else have this happen? Ideas/thoughts/input? On the broken flange, not biting flies...FLUFF, DIW at pier, but there in spirit.... until next year, or Mystic, or Northport....AlnilamHull #500
