Old dock queen houseboat just about bought it yesterday. Owner left for work and left dock water on. We have 85 PSI. A fitting failed, and the flow overwhelmed the bilge pump(s).

This pic was on the way back. It had a pretty good list going.

Re: Slow Motion Sinker: Dock Water Danger
I always use my tanks. Can’t sink the boat with water that is already on board.
Thanks,
Tony

Re: Slow Motion Sinker: Dock Water Danger
I also use my tanks, when I was living aboard I saw a boat sink because of a failed fitting. The owner was at work and never turned their water off because they thought they were safe. It caused them big time they had lied to their insurance company about being live aboards and the insurance company didn't honor their claim. They wound up footing the whole bill to raise the boat, rebuild the engines, redo the wiring, and the engines themselves. All because they didn't want the bother of filling their tanks.

Re: Slow Motion Sinker: Dock Water Danger
I learned my lesson the semi hard way. Was hooked up to the water hose and was on board when a fitting broke. So I was there it catch the leak. Never again. I work off the tanks only now.
