Re: Cockpit Mezzanine & Tuna Tube Winter Project

After the grid system was glassed in and a top layer of foam bonded on top, we pulled the sides of the mold off and trimmed the part.

Test fitting the old handrail that came off.

    Everything lined up perfectly!

The top skin foam was shaped and a couple layers of fiberglass were laid in.

You will be amazed how useful the extended bridge floor is once you start using it, both on top and below with the added shade and rain protection..

We have already noticed the shade provided by the mold. The cabin def feels cooler in the afternoons when the sun hits the back of the cockpit wall. Before you couldn't even open the door without getting soaked.

Made some good progress this weekend!

Wings of the mold were pulled off and the top skin was faired and 2 more layers of 1.5oz cloth. Then it was faired and 2 coats of high build primer were laid on.

The mold popped right off but the tv recesses were a little more of a pain to get out.

Still gotta get the 2x4's outta the mold

Welder will be at the boat this weekend getting the handrail and ladder put back together so this past weekend we did a final dry-fit in preparation for him. One step closer!!

Plenty of clearance for all lids..etc.

Everything lined up perfectly, couldn't have asked for a better fit.

Haven’t been following your thread lately. Just took a look. Wow! I congratulate you on your progress and your vision. Takes guts to go that deep into a remodel of that magnitude. Looks really nice.
