I have 2 8D batteries on port side for starting a 903 Cummins. Seems like over kill. The boat is only used when temperatures are above 60 degrees. Starboard side also has two but they are house batteries as well as for starting starboard motor. Any opinion?

2 8Ds each side is what it takes to do the job, you are turning over big displacement engines. I added two regular sized AGMs just for the generator to give me peace of mind. You never want to be dead in the water for lack of starting power. As is always said in this forum Hatteras engineers knew what they were doing.
