A friends father passed and left him a custom engraved weatherby rifle used by Curtis lamay.
Hes wondering how to get it appraised so he can sell it.
Anyone have a background with this kind of rifle?

Re: Anyone know anything about historic firearms
Have your friend contact Garry James @ outdoorsg.com with plenty of pictures, serial number, caliber
and very important if he can prove that Curtis Lemay actually owned it. An original older Weatherby
should be worth a few bucks if it's in good condition.

Okay, tell him to start here. I haven't searched through the results for comps. Unless the guy is strapped for cash, I just can't see why he would sell such a gun that belonged to his father.

His dad left him the rifle and debt. Hes not a gun person and thinks its historic value may bring some relief plus it's literally not seen light for 40 years. Hasn't been fired since the early 60's.

Re: Anyone know anything about historic firearms
It's more about the fact it belong to his father, but to each their own. You may want to tell him to contact the custom shop at Weatherby, but I doubt they will keep records dating back that far. Then again, it might be worth a shot. They may or may not be able to confirm who the rifle was built for.
