    Sling points

My 1983 53MY is gonna be hauled and I can't find the plates that mark where to place the slings. I found a spot where a plate was as the two holes are still visible towards the aft but nothing forward. Did that plate mark a sling point or where the keel ends?

Look at the bulkheads behind the engines. That's close enough to the aft lift point.

The forward point is usually forward of the engines near the next bulkhead.

Here is a picture of mine getting lifted out. I've had the front sling a couple of feet more forward on other lifts, but the back one needs to be where it is in the picture.

If you have the Graving Plan you can get a good idea where the straps need to be placed.

The boats originally came with one from the factory?

I think my plans are about an inch thick. Invaluable. Really helpful in understanding why things were done the way they were. Very helpful in planning repairs and modifications so as to not reinvent the wheel. I found all 67 bonding points from the plans plus additional added points when I rehabbed that system; duly recorded additions to the plans. PO denied having the plans; I dug them out first day onboard. I kinda like the owner’s manual, because it looks like it was typed on a Smith-Corona portable like I had in college, complete with corrections. Makes you wonder why they didn’t just xerox it (another now anachronistic term).
