    Nobody Talking About Michael?

I know we have members in the PC area, and the city marina pretty much got wiped out. Haven't heard anything about Bay Point but can't imagine it fared much better. Haven't heard any casualty reports which, quite frankly, concerns me.

450,000 homes without power. Most of the population left for safety. We shouldn’t trust the fake news reports. I’m sure someone will report tomorrow when they return to their homes. If the news is correct only one man died when a tree fell on his home.

Nothing fake about the damage showing up in videos from those who are there. You're kidding yourself if you think there has only been one life lost during this event which is still ongoing. There were lots of people in that area who didn't evacuate.

A friend from the area called me yesterday. I had offered him a place to evacuate to but he went to higher ground in brison city nc.

I've not heard anything from the are but weather channel shows it took a beating.

That’s what I mean about fake news. This is all they are reporting.

In the mid 80's I lived at Bay Point in PC Beach. At that time it was known as hurricane alley and it
lived up to it's name. On two occasions we were all ordered to evacuate by the local police and most
did. Many of us took our boats up the river heading east and dropped a couple of anchors and kept
the engines running in order to help prevent undue stress on the ground tackle. It was a scary experience
and certainly one that I would not want to do again. All I lost was some loose stuff on the boat. That
storm was not even close to Michael in intensity. I think it helps to have a few screws loose to ignore
the warnings. I have not been able to reach my friends yet .... I hope they are OK

You need to work on your definition of fake news. Isolated deaths are easy to confirm/report, but it takes a long time to sift through the rubble looking for victims. Don't expect a play by play as bodies are found one by one. Lots of folks east of PC are very poor and live in houses that were constructed way before codes changed. I believe the mayor of Port St. Joe said there were over 2,500 who didn't evacuate in that city alone.

Had that storm tracked a bit further east, I'm guessing the death toll would be staggering. I'm afraid it may still be, and I hope to God I'm wrong.

I have a friend connected to this forum who has family in PC, and she hasn't heard from some of them either. One brother managed to get a text through. Cell service is almost non-existent there now.

Tidal station in Apalachicola, the only one east of PC peaked at almost 8’ above MHHW easily topping the precious 2005 record of 6.43. Could have been even worst further east along big bend...

Just read some information that says Bay Point is gone. I have a feeling we are being left in the dark to better prepare us for some really bad news.
