    Protecting Artwork

Concerned interior moisture may damage paintings we would like to bring on board. Anyone research how to conserve?

    Re: Protecting Artwork

if the boat is not fully air conditioned at all times its bad for the paintings.

When the relative humidity and temperature changes it expands and contracts the media and the canvass at different rates causing cracking.

prints will not fare well in humid environments either.

You might do better with laser scanning the original artwork and having prints made. You can always replace those as needed.

I have an old map that was done with this giclee (https://www.artworkarchive.com/blog/...-giclee-prints) process and the resolution and color is as best I can tell, perfect. Also very cool you can have the artwork in any size you like once it's digitized........Pat

Thanks for the digitizing referral, we'll go that route and store the paintings for later display.
