slowly and carefully. Then block the transmission end.

Re: How do you do an frame rebuild 12v71
Just had my Port 12-71 TA done in frame. So far so good, about 20 hours on it so far. It took about 6 weeks and was interesting to watch. Will do the STBD in the spring. Head removal was a bear, three guys who were tipped well! Access to the bottom side was not an issue after the pan came off. Had the injectors rebuilt and matched by a reputable shop. Boat is an 89’ 65 MY, extended to 74.

I had my 8v71ti's rebuilt in place in my 46C by an excellent Diesel mechanic including the main bearing and have had excellent results from the engines. I would not hesitate to have him do my Detroits in the 58' YF if they needed it.

I could crawl under the 12v71s in my 61 cmy with the pans on, there's room depending on how big you are .....Pat

Scott, There is plenty of room under your 12v71, and with the upper oil pan removed, it's downright spacious. There is no reason to jack up your engine for an inframe.
