I know my boat has been run light its entire life. The old owner told me its an 10-11 cruiser. In a couple weeks when Im able to run it up, assuming I can get 2350ish what should I expect to see other than a lot of fuel disappearing from the tank? 20kts? It does have fins that I realize will add drag. Im curious more than anything to compare theoretical to my actual

I don't know of one with 1292s but the 1271 versions ran 21 to 23 kts if memory serves.

Re: Expected top end of 83 60 enclosed bridge SF with 12v92s
15 -16 kts for the 650 hp version maybe 19 for the 84-85 model years when they jacked the hp up to over 700. A few were repowered with 92s but didnt go a lot faster just burned more fuel. Once you get in over 5 fathoms of water the boat settles and slows down like Davey Jones is sucking you down. Ive seen this on other boats but not as pronounced as these old 60cs.

Re: Expected top end of 83 60 enclosed bridge SF with 12v92s
The engines are 12v92ti, which I cannot find literature on but I think they may be as much as 1100hp? I kind of hope not but i have seen that number associated with my boat.

The open bridge 1978 60C that I run with has the 12v71s @650 and runs 19-20kts at cruise in fresh water. The enclosed bridge may be slower.

Re: Expected top end of 83 60 enclosed bridge SF with 12v92s
I know Melody is a pretty bare bones boat but I find that really hard to believe unless the engines have been boosted to well over 800hp. For comparison there are a load of 53cs out there with the 650hp 12s and they have a hard time making 20kt cruise and are way lighter than the 60c. You sure its KTs not MPH?

Re: Expected top end of 83 60 enclosed bridge SF with 12v92s
Looking for clues on how much HP I may be making...my 12v92tis are mated with ZF BW250 gears and 3 shafts. I guess I wont know the speed til I try. First order of business is a cooling issue though:/.
