Sealant for Flybridge Balsa Core Penetrations

Hello I have been reading here a lot but haven't posted much. Have been searching for the proper sealant to use on the screws that penetrate the balsa core and fiberglass skin on benches, etc for Hatteras flybridge. This would be to remove and re-seal original screw penetrations. I know 5200 would stop any leaks but am aware it may impede future removal without heat. Is there a general consensus on what would be best?

4200 is the sealant to use.

Will the 4200 stay nice and white after a long period of sun exposure?

Use mineral spirits and wipe the excess off no need to leave any exposed.
Best thing to do is carve out the balsa fill with epoxy then re drill the hole in the epoxy a lot more work but last for ever and no worries.

Thanks for the replies. I will go the 4200 route unless there is a way to carve out and epoxy fill without removing the benches. Only one area that leaked and it was repaired by someone else however I want to make sure its done properly as a preventative measure

No, and the UV rays will break it down. You need the UV version which I think is the 4000. Still, even that does not stay nice and white either. If you're omitting the screw hole, mix up some thickened epoxy, fill it, and paint it.

Agreed, no caulking has good UV protection. They are meant to be coated. I like Ang’s solution however.

As said By 34Hatt, the only true way to be safe is to pot every screw hole with epoxy. I did that with mine, then ran a bead of paintable sealant around the outer edge of seat and touched up the paint. remember it only takes a tiny leak and your balsa core is #$%.

Get rid of all screws though the deck and glass it down.
