Thread: Freshwater Pump

    Re: Freshwater Pump

Perfect argument for having both 110 VAC and 32 VDC fresh water pumps. I was debating whether to add a shallow well pump but this kind of seals the deal for me.

My luck I'd have a bunch of people aboard, someone takes a "Number 2" in one of the heads and the pump dies.

That's the kind of luck I have.

    Re: Freshwater Pump

After getting tired of replacing the cheap plastic shallow well pumps,
I have had this stainless pump for probably 6 years now. It works great.

    Sky,

Quick question. Did you add a 110VAC circuit to run the shallow well pump or use an existing circuit?

    Re: Freshwater Pump

PO on ours used the bottom left breaker on the 110v panel by the lower helm so it is easy to turn on dock water, click the breaker off, and not worry about pulling from the tank by accident.
Our pump is from Grainger and is trouble free unless run dry. had to add a low pressure cutoff switch to the setup. Grainger gave me a new one 90 days outside of warranty in another state!! that was great service.

I saw a hatt years ago in the bahamas that was used as a judge boat for the big fishing tournaments. The owner told me that he had 3 110v shallow well pumps onboard, (2 gens and inverter though). 2 plumbed in , and one in the box.
When I asked why not keep the 32 volt, he said he had converted to 24volt.

32 volt pump is for emergencies only on our boat.

    Re: Freshwater Pump

Great information!!! I'll check my breaker panel tonight and see if there's one open as you've described.

    Thanks!
