53 MY trim tab size

Finalizing some of the last details before hauling out in august for the yard work and repower from 8V71Ns to factory reman Cummins C series.

What size trim tabs were used on the later 53s with turbos... Bennett recommends 54x12.

do you have tabs now? on my 58yf they are made of fiberglass and custom from hatteras. steve has them in stock if you need the original ones.

I do have trim tabs but haven't measured them yet. Trying to see if hatteras had gone to larger tabs when they went to TIs. I know mines are nowhere close to the 54" recommended by Bennett for a 53 I wonder if over the years they increased the size .

I added 3" extensions to mine. It made little difference.

Pascal. I measured mine today. They are 41 1/2 X 9. Fiberglass

My original tabs were fiberglass and probably that size. I had a buddy make a pair maybe 3 or 4 more inches into the water and it didn't make a difference. Then I added a ram on each side and put the biggest tabs on. Made a difference but not as good as I would have expected. With fuel prices bring what they are, not sure I will ever use them except to blow out the Detroit's.

Yes my trim tabs are fiberglass.
