    Re: WTB Hatteras

I may have something of interest. NOT a Hatt though but the guy will privately finance with very little qualifying. It is a 40 something ft. Uniflite fully rigged for fishing. Bait boxes, out riggers, freezers, cockpit controls, flybridge, the works. In South Florida. He'll take 50K for it, 15K down, about 750 a month till it is paid off NO INTEREST. Provide your contact info, this is from a friend of mine that put me in a fantastic Hatteras 43 DC in great condition minus the dust, with 2000 hours on the 6-71 detroits that fire right up and does not blow a bit of smoke. I think this thing has a 16 ft. beam and definitely two fighting chairs with lots of room in the cockpit. This thing is a really nice yacht, but so sorry it is not a Hatteras. (Go easy on me Hatt guys, I'm trying to help!)

Hope this helps and gives you some ideas. All would be great charter boats but I'd maybe lean toward a Cummins Repower if all other things are equal in the condition of the boats and the deals being presented.

It always amuses me when someone poses a question on this forum with limited details and all the exspurts start bloviating. You need to state WHAT IS YOUR MISSION PROFILE!!!!! Charters??? That can be anything from dinner cruises to overnight offshore canyon fishing. 6 passengers + Captain and Mate is 8 souls on board. Where they all going to sit, lie down, throw up? Going to need room for a live bait tank on deck? Is the deck house big enough for everybody to play cards or sleep on a stormy ride home?
You want real answers you need to be specific.

I think you maybe way over thinking this. He stated this, "looking for a 34' thru 42 sport fish to use for charter." I don't think he's looking for a Paddlewheeler River Boat with a Black Jack table to do Golden Ager Polka Parties. He stated 34 to 42 Feet, Just assume he knows what he needs and knows that you can't hold a dinner party for 25 in the Dinette area of a 38' Sport Fish. Assume also that if he wants a live bait tank that he took that into consideration when he stated the size "Sportfish" boat he's looking for. Where is everyone going to lay down? Again something I'm sure he thought about that when he stated size requirements.

When someone asks the question the way he did I believe he kind of knows what he wants. He simply would like to know what options are available out there in his size and price range. If he needed a specific type of vessel "Dredge, Shrimp Boat etc." he would have been more specific.

In a 34 to 42' ft boat there are trade offs. The interior typically is not going to fit 8 to 10 guys on the sofa and dinette unless cockpit suffers or Vice Versa. Also at $60,000 your options are limited so you take the best boat in the best condition you can find that meets your needs. If your spending millions on a custom build then be specific and ask for a builder that will accomadate your desires.

You as an expierienced fisherman like everything in your setup a certain way and really think in depth about it. Some of the things you mentioned can be accomplished though minor modifications to suit his needs best. He needs a solid boat with sound power, everything else he can adjust. I'm sure he thought this ou but didn't want to write a book on here. That being said any of the boats listed there could possibly work, but none will be perfect. At least he has a few options to look through and see what features have the most importance to him. Then he can narrow down his search and make an informed decsion.

No offense but like I said I think you over thought what he was asking. Could have he been more specific? Yes. Did he need to be, I don't believe so. If he had millions to spend and sky is the limit then he could make a luandry list of needs and fit it perfectly but not at +/- 40ft and $60K. The little details are not as important as a good sound boat. He needs find a good boat and put a bait tank on it if he wants one and it doesn't have it.
