Living on the northern gulf coast my search for a 41' convertible took me to North Carolina last Sept. The owner had recently passed away after a long illness that struck shortly after starting the boat's restoration in 2007. Most of her mechanical workings had already been replaced including re-manned 2007 Cummins 370hp 6bta's 150hrs, 2007 Onan 8k genset, new Cruiseair 16k & 12k Ac's, and new plumbing (head, shower, tanks..everything). Had a great 2800 mile trip bringing her back to the AL coast even having a group meet us in Clearwater, FL to fish the rest of the way home... Now I'm getting ready this offseason to finish her restoration. Very excited and I will post photos along the way.

Re: Proud new owner of a classic Hatteras
Nice lots of luck and Congrats on a Nice boat and great engine package.
Just read up on Boat Diesel and learn how to care for them and prop them correctly. There is a few easy update to do to the B's. I know of a 41 C in Montauk first set of B's went to 9000 hrs.
Good luck fishing.
Catch them upDan

Gotta love the BGE, did that come with the boat?

Do the aftercoolers, if they weren't already done. Instructions on Seaboard Marine's site, or boatdiesel.com. Have fun, it will be a great boat for you.

Those 41's of that vintage are actually tanks...good strong boats, are they not?

Re: Proud new owner of a classic Hatteras
The 41 was the canyon runner of choice back in the mid 60's to mid 70's there were 5 of them in cape may that ran offshore 2-3 times a week in the summer. Even the 45 couldn't knock them out of the slot because with 8n's it was just too slow. Dr Irving Sussman on the Ripper, Capt. Ray Jackson and other offshore legends made their reputations on 41's. I was with Doc Sussman in 71 when we went 17 for 21 white marlin on a day trip. Incredible fishing that I've never seen again since.
