Would the 58LRC have the kind of range sefkay is looking for? I have seen them listed for sale with transatlantic capability touted.

They have a 3k mile or so range but thats still a long way to take an old boat without first going over every system.
From south america to Hawaii and other islands is a long way without a stop. probably every bit of 3K milesScott

For what it would cost to buy at 58LRC and outfit it for a trans-Pacific voyage, you might be able to get a newer and smaller Nordhavn and do the same thing. After which you would have a boat that had retained more of its resale value, etc. I love Hatteras yachts, but in this case I think there might be more economical and prudent choices.
As for crossing that ocean on a 58YF or MY- if you're going to do that, make sure your estate planning is fully up to date. It will make things simpler for your survivors.
