"79 43 DC HW tank setup

Doing an investigation in case I need to replace the HW tk soon, I see there is the usual bladder tank there but also another cylindrical tank, about 8 " dia couple feet long with with what looks like a press sw on top, the feed to the hw tk and the cw system goes through this tk first , is some kind of bladder tank ?? don't look like one..

Sounds like some kind of water filter/softener. I don't have such a thing. Any labels on it?

No labels and it looks quite "professional" the pressure sw. thing has me puzzled, that may have been something added by the p.o.,,

If it's a filter, maybe the pressure switch turns on a light somewhere when the filter need changing. Any wires on it?
