    Rudder access 1972 Hatteras 38

Do the bookcase/storage areas behind the master berths remove as a unit to access the rudders?

I had a 1973 model and was able to get to the rudder shafts from the bottom access doors in the built in drawers. It was tight but you could tighten and re-pack the shafts through this access.

On my 43' there are access panels on the floor sides of the twin berths, outboard of the dresser

    Hi Bruce,
Campbellde is correct, they are accessed through the bottom doors on the 'dresser' unit. its tight, but it's enough. I don't even want to think about how hard it would be to get that 'whole unit' out...
