    "Blind Date" Story?

Anyone on the HOF know the true story of the "yacht" "Blind Date" that "blew up" off NJ coast. Many quotes are due to it being reported by the press, so who knows what the actual story is. Looked bad in the video's, that much for sure...

News reports and USCG quotes to ABC are now saying the reports may have been a hoax. Strange indeed.

The "bad" appearances of amublances on the shore docks, et al, are actually just "waiting" and their are no injured parties in their midst or being treated. That alone is misleading. As you point out, USCG says is a hoax and some reports are that the search has been called off.

Apparently there was a false report in this same area about a year ago. Someone is being prosecuted for that event.

Megayachts don't explore and have enough equipment to be located if they take on water or catch fire

Then Of course the press calls anything over 40 a "luxury yacht" and over 60 a "Megayacht"...

Damn, I just missed being a luxury yacht owner. Shucks. Back in the bleachers again. Story of my life.

I found a story that said that there are three large MYs with this name, two easily accounted for and a third in Holland. Since all CG transmissions are recorded, they may be able to find who did this and blew a lot of our money searching for a boat that wasn't there. This ought to be worth a few years in the gray bar hotel.

I'm wondering if it some kind of idiotic prank, or unsavory types testing the CG.

A hoax, acc to NYTimes, and boy are they looking for the little pissant who started it. Cost so far of alerts etc $88000 and climbing. He or she will have to make a LOT of license plates to pay that back.
