    Is it salon or saloon

We always called it the deck house but also call it the salon. I see some ppl spell it saloon. Brits mostly. Looking up the defs a salon is a room for meeting and entertaining guests, a saloon is a western bar. I could find no reference to boating. I guess either could be correct depending on the beverage bieng served.

I thought it was salon until the other day I was looking a some drawings of a good looking motorboat and the designer who is well respected labeled the seating area "saloon". I am kind of torn at this point.

What term did Jack Hargrave use on his drawings?

Many become more attractive the longer you stay at the saloon.
