    surveyor in MD

Does anyone have a recommendation on a surveyor and engine surveyor in the Baltimore or Annapolis area. This would be a 53' Hatteras with Detroit Diesels.

I would highly recommend James Stitt His business name is White Marsh Diesel. He is an old time Detroit guru. He learned Detroits at Johnson-Towers. Besides the engine survey-he can handle the hull survey as well. He truly knows these older Hatteras's

I used Tom Hug of MR Power Specialists for my engines survey. Another old J&T hand, Tom is also a terrific teacher and includes a full orientation to your engines as part of his survey. Just a great guy. 410 574 1625, or cell# 410 274 7636.

For the boat proper, we used Gale Browning of Hartof Associates in Annapolis, after gaining a variety of good references. We were also very happy with the service received and quality of report. 410-263-3609

I second Tommy Hug. He's the best.

For a great Hatteras surveyor, call Peter Schacht. 804-824-4102. He used to be the yard manager for Hurley Hatteras.

I can highly recommend Peter Hartoft (Hartoft Marine Survey) as well. He knows his Hatts and is very detailed in the final reports (mine was 40 pages!). 410-263-3609. He and Gaile Browning are in Annapolis.

Tom Hugg (MR Power) for the Detroits. I think someone listed his information above.

Tom Hug. I flew him to Cincinnati 4 weeks ago when I surveyed Gregs 53.

Detroit Surveyor: Agreed - Tom Hugg is a great guy. Frank Butt of AP Marine is another ex J&T guy that is top notch. 410-633-0602

Marine Surveyor: Frankie Pettolina 410-251-0575 and Randy Renn 410-490-0216

I'd also recommend Derek Rhymes, who is in the Annapolis area. Very fair, very knowledgeable, and very thorough.

    Surveyor in MD in 2021

Does anyone know if Tom Hug of MR Power in Baltimore, MD is still in business?
I have called and left a half dozen messages for him on the MR voicemail with no reply.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Kirk

While I have heard the tell of Tom Hug being a great mechanic and talked to him at length one time... My opinion is that I wouldn't want to rely on him.

I eventually hired another engine surveyor as Tom became scarce as the date was finalized.

I used Jim Stitz in 2019.
