    Infrared Thermometer (Radiometer)

Hi guys, some of you may know I'm a sales rep for industrial equpment, primarly Infrared Radiometer and Thermal Imaging Cameras. Well, I am selling off some demo equipment and have two IR radiometers that may be of interest to you as we've posted about this technology before. The specification sheet can be seen here: http://www.instrumart.com/assets/108/mxbroch_11_05.pdf
(I do not work for or represent the company in the link, I represent the mfg in Canada)

    I have the Models MX2 & MX4+NI; both measure from -25 to 1600 deg. F.
The MX2 is ideal for most applications, has laser and uses standard batteries, comes in a case with power supply & manual. It sells from between $780 to $575 and I am offering this for $400 us funds, no warranty but is in as new condition, very rugged & robust and I have never had any problems with these products.

The MX4+NI has additional features, software and contact thermocouple. The purpose of the thermocouple is to calibrate emissivity with is the emittance value of the object being measured, very nice feature when measuring reflective properties. This unit is on the market for around $850 and I am asking $600. This would be a nice kit for a professional.

I am in Ontario, Canada; no duty applicable as it is made in the USA; only freight which is not much, they are both light weight (see specs).

They seem like great deals. If I did not already have one for the boat I would be getting one.

So how much better are these than the $59 one that I bought at Harbor Freight?

Well Sky, that's a hard question to answer in an email and I can't afford to demo these anymore, but, yours more likely meets your needs & applications. Specially because you probaly use it in a relative manner which means for repeatable measurements rather than accuracy. These MX models are very industrail in it's functions, design, temperature range, accuracy & repeatability. The MX4 with a thermocouple makes for measuring emissivity on reflective metal surfaces making it the best measurement system, if yours has that you might tell others where to buy it.
I was thinking of keeping the MX4 for my eventual boat, but the MX2..ummm ok $250 and I betcha it's still better! lol

btw... look at this new IR imager pictured below...you should be surprised at it's amazing low price. But I don't mean to get commercial, I was just selling off my used stuff.

I bought a Raytek that looks quite similar to the MX4 model but smaller lcd readout and only goes to maybe 900 degres but has laser, backlight, memory, etc. Retail was like $189 and i paid maybe $120 off ebay but this was MANY years ago. I've seen the smaller Raytek's for $69 and I think the only difference is they go to either 600 or 750 degrees max.

AWESOME tools for many uses. Love my Raytek!

Now here's a nice thermal imager that I just fell in love with.....

Here is something else you'd like to wear on your HATT>>>

btw: the MX series is made by Raytek.
Another major difference between models is spot size to distance resolution, these are 60:1 (ie: at 60" it measures a 1" circle and computes its average temperature), they get lot less expensive at 30:1, 10:1, 5:1 etc.

I'm familiar with the Mariner and Voyager series. Great units.

I was hoping you'd say your company made the new first mate monocular!

I've got my eye on one of those!

I'm a specialist in quantitative thermography, IR imagers with temperature measurement and analysis for industrial, R&D type applications. If I lived in the USA I would definitly be in vision systems for the military & spin off markets. Our military only spends millions on $500 hammers and such.

Yachtsmanbill: Bill, do you need an IR Radiometer? If so, pm or email me your address and preferred carrier (UPS, Fedex or Purolator). For past favours you granted me, I will ship collect and give you the MX2 for free. I decided to keep the MX4 for my own boat (hopefully I will have one before July 10, 2010).
Note to others: If Bill accepts my offer then consider both these items as NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
