Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
1) Yes, definitely, I love.
2) No, I'm offended
3) No opinion, I don't even own a boat.
4) Can I have my blanky and warm glass of milk?

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Lol, not a very fair poll. Should be Yes, No or I don't care and anonymous.

But, I want to root out the perpetrator. :)

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
As a longtime stickler for proper HOF etiquette, why the heck is it in the tech section?
I'm offended that this wasn't listed in the poll.
-
Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I'm not personally offended, but I am offended on behalf of the potentially offended, even if they aren't offended by the offensive nature of some of these offensive posts. I'm actually outraged at the lack of offence shown by the potentially offended and am prepared to express my outrage by staging a protest on their behalf!
I think I'll head down right now and loot the local West Marine and Home Depot stores.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I think the offended might be offended by our sarcastic offensiveness. I certainly hope so.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I like it when I'm offended.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
To head off any (character) assassination plots this is the first I hear of this so I am not the offended. I occasionally look at them, and find a small percentage genuinely funny. There is also a substantial number of them that are less funny and a too large number of them that are only funny to people that would not be my friends and not because they are gross but because they are misogynistic or otherwise hurtful. It's not offending to me, it's sad, and I can see where the powers that be find it non-contributing to the mission statement of this forum.

Do I really need to say it, or is the photo sufficient?

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Roughly 1.5 million views, has ANY other forum post been remotely this popular???

You're the whiner. Admit it, ask for forgiveness, and move on.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Speaking of admitting things, I just voted for all four choices. Is this what it feels like to be a Democrat? :D

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
First of all I would like to thank everybody for their positive comments and the fact that they did enjoy the morning funnies. I wanted to let you know that I have received a ton of personal emails from friends asking me not to give up. Later this evening I received an email from someone who had complained and asked me not to shut it off but to be a little more conscious of some of the post. I will do the best I possibly can and hopefully not offend anybody any longer. I will ask that if I do please feel comfortable in contacting me direct so we can discuss it. Again for all those who have come to my rescue thank you, and for the ones that I have offended I do apologize. I will plan on reactivating the post tomorrow, I was truly shocked to see all the support that it got, but very pleased.

Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I voted yes. Absolutely continue the 'morning funny' thread!
I also want my mommy!

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
If you don't like them, don't read them. That simple.

Operation chaos come back to life!

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
For humor to truly be funny, it has to have an element of truth. Those that are offended obviously can't handle the truth.

My feelings too. The casual racism and sexism says a lot more about the poster than the reader. I look at the posts more to see how the poster has embarrassed themselves than for the humorous content.

So you are the one NO vote!
I read the funny most mornings and look forward to them.
Let’s not let one or two crybabies mess it up for others. As far as I know no one has forced me to read any post on this forum.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Life just would not be the same or stable with out the Morning Funny.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Who is the snowflake when a little mild criticism is answered with rants and calling those you disagree with pieces of shit? It’s informative how many people are so quick to turn every tiny disagreement into a personal insult and then respond by being as petty and insulting as they can. Just as the topic of the original post: it says more about the poster than about the reader or the target of the rant. The responses are reminiscent of an elementary schoolyard not a forum populated by supposed adults. These childlike tantrums and rants say more about you than about me or about the topic at hand.
-
Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
Folks, no one has ordered Rusty to stop posting. I passed along a few mild comments, is all. No, I will not disclose where they came from.
Also, be advised I did not order anyone to do anything. I would prefer that the Morning Funny thread stay alive. I would also prefer it was less crude, because that's what the complaints are about, but I'm not going to shut it off.
Now, this thread, which has gotten out of hand by a long shot, I AM going to shut if the current personal remarks don't immediately stop.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I am amazed at all the attention that thread gets. I never read it, didn't seem that funny!
Best part was a recent post by Walt P!

Care to explain why other comments were deleted but the one above yours remains?
Moderators are supposed to be neutral, aren't they?

Actually, I would say that they are supposed to moderate the discussion, IOW keep it from going to the extremes. Perhaps we need a "basement" area where people can play in the mud like some other forums, although it wouldn't interest me personally.

Funny how everything was fine until a few people got upset after being forced to read a thread with a title that had nothing to do with anything of interest to them. I suspect the same would happen in a "basement" area.
Meanwhile, the Facebook-style censorship is a tad ridiculous for a group of primarily grown men who at least have an interest in old boats.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I think everyone needs a group un-bunching of their undies. Grow a pair and move on. If you have been or might be offended I’m fairly sure no one is forcing anyone to read any post here.
As far as the term moderator on this forum is concerned, censor is more accurate. But as I was told, “their forum, their rules” written or not.

Re: Should Rusty continue the Morning Funny?
I am not now and never have been offended.

It seems that you are the one responding by calling Rusty a racist and sexist for posting a few cartoons that seem to bother you. I don't think it says anything about him. He was just trying to make us all laugh a little about life and society. You, on the other hand, have just called out your own behavior.
I think the proper thing to do is just turn the other cheek and let it go. If you don't like his post, don't read them. If you don't like the food at a restaurant, don't eat there. You can't change people, especially not old men like most of us are (just ask our wives).
I have spoken to Rusty on the phone several times and he sure seems like a great guy to me.

Well, I guess we know who the complainer is.

My maniacal plan to root him out with a poll was a resounding success. :)
(Disclaimer: this is an attempt at humor, do not take this the wrong way)
