Finished the "plank or ramp"
Very short spans.. 2x10 SYP with edge glued and screwed 2 x 4's .. 2 inch lip to retain dolly and drip pan sliding to galley level
Looks great.
It's aboard! Phase 1 complete. Phase 2 moves it to the genny room. Next is installing the down ramp and beam trolley.
In the pilothouse on the dolly.
Maybe it's me, but I'm bothered by the fact that the temporary construction looks better than most of my permanent jobs.
You know something? I was thinking the same thing.
My handi dandi engineers pocket reference didn't have a span table for southern yellow pine on it's side.. so I over did it with the side banding. Max span was 5 feet, and it didn't deflect at all! The lifting gantry was engineered for 4k. The failure would have been the hoist. By myself, working with 1,000 lbs, and 17k overhead... yeh, I was pretty careful!
Fun and games!
Got the beam trolley installed. Ramp is next.. then it's showtime!
