Re: The best bilge pump.....
I have the Home Depot bucket head for engine room duty, that's all I use it for. Same as Ralph I can absorb the scum off the top and then dump the rest. For longer hose you can use sump pump hose and fit it up to the bucket head. Works great for me.

Re: The best bilge pump.....
Finally crawled down to my own bilge today. Took some pictures and tried to find my model on line.
Darn vac was discontinued.
With out searching, I'm sure there is a replacement model somewhere.
It works like a champ.

Re: The best bilge pump.....
The last i saw was that ShopVac is no more. A victim of Covid. There was a distribution warehouse in Burlington Ontario that is now closed. Very good product and alot of them still in use, shame to see a company like that close.

Oh heck.
Hopefully some company has or will pick up on the idea of a pumping shop-vac again.
This vac has me spoiled.

Interesting, looks like Ridgid has a similar thing as an add on to their vacs.

This could be the easy answer for lots of us.
Thx for the update.
Re: The best bilge pump.....
I have thought of putting a pump inside the bucket head vac with a fitting and shutoff valve, it can go on the drawing board until ALL the other work is done.
Re: The best bilge pump.....
More I think about this wet vac idea more I like it. Don't need a pump, get the small shop vac, mount it high enough to tap into a sea chest. It will drain constantly. Also a slightly thinner hose of which 20' is easier to hide........
