Re: AC Compressor Stopped
It's a high pressure switch. It keeps the unit from running when the coils aren't being cooled, such as when the water pump is inoperative or blocked. It seems their next generation unit had low and high pressure switches. If it turns out to be the compressor, I will call someone, but why would I call someone to replace parts that probably cost $25 or less?

Re: AC Compressor Stopped
Thanks for pointing out my misidentification of the reversing valve. That led me to follow the connections to the compressor, and find the fault. A corroded wire / broken connection.

Doesn't seem to be a relay between the switches and the compressor, unless it is in the compressor body. To the right is the thermal overload switch.
