Fire! Tidwater Yacht Marina
We came through Dorian nicely however for some reason the marina management (Suntext Marinas) decided to turn all the power off in the marina after the storm was moving away. We had tropical storm conditions and a 2' surge at the time of high tide.
So Suntext management decides to cut power at 5:30 PM on Friday while the storm is moving well away. On Saturday morning at 10:30 am they turn all the power on to the docks. One of the step down transformers did not like this and while no one was looking, it caught fire.
Luckily a fire boat for the city of Norfolk just happened to be passing by the marina and saw the smoke. The City of Portsmouth fire dept. arrived on seen and the fire was quickly extinguished!. No one hurt and no boats caught fire.
My boat sits directly across from where the fire was and no damage. Would have been another story if at night and no one seeing it right away. The pictures are from the cockpit of my boat.
I feel very lucky.

Re: Fire! Tidwater Yacht Marina
You are lucky it didn’t spread. Hopefully the management is taking responsibility.
Re: Fire! Tidwater Yacht Marina
And, hopefully, your power is still on!

Once the fire started, someone pulled it out of the slip quickly. The owner told me later that his enclosures will need replacing.
