  1. In love with 48 LRC

I was at the boatyard today, and saw a 48 LRC nearing launch that just had a cockpit extension (~10'), flybridge, cockpit overhead, and a bow thruster added. About $200k all together with new paint and such. I guess the guy likes the boat. BTW the 4-53's went untouched.......

  2. shower head dribble

I have a 86 32' hatt with a nagging problem. Since my original shower head started to leak into my cabinet I can't find a shower head that doesn't "dribble" as a safety feature to avoid scalding. That does me no good because the head sits in a cradle next to the sink and short of leaving it in...

My husband and I will be finalizing the purchase of a 1973 38 DCMY next week!! We have become addicted to this forum. The information is great. After a final check of the boat, we will officially be Hatteras owners!!! I can't even tell you how excited we are! Does anyone out there own this...

  4. Intro to boat handeling?

I was just perusing the Chapman's site and thought I'd ask you folks if you knew of anyone (other than Chapmans) that offered "at the helm" boat handling lessons? My pop just sat for his 6-pack but is still uncomfortable handling our 45c in tight quarters. I've tried the "just go slow and if...

  5. Marine Surveyor

It is my understanding that NC, along with many other states, do not have any real standards for a person to become a Marine Surveyor. One surveyor I saw today mentioned a class/books at "SAMS" ( I believe that is what he called it ) ( Not this Sams ) and also mentioned about 5k. But he was...

  8. Dreams

Ok, well I did a walk around on my runabout yesterday and when checking the I/O lower unit it made me recall a dream I had the night before. I dreamed that I woke up on our Hatt rocking on top a sandbar, I ran up to the helm to raise the lower drive units but couldn't find the switch anywhere........

  9. Favorite Cruising Music?

Hey there, was wondering what everyone's taste might be in the music department? For us, we like anything reggae/caribbean, Peter White, and of course Jimmy Buffett, yes I know he is over-rated, but he is still fun to listen to. Please share your favs? :)

  11. I know none of us believe in this stuff but...

Late yesterday evening I got a call from a good friend who bought a nice '78 53MY late last season. Yesterday he was removing the original name on the boat and putting on a new one. He called last night to tell me that after the old name was off the following occurred within the next 2 hours: ...

Can anybody recommend a security system for a boat. I'd be interested in what some of the members are using and what works (or seems to anyway). Thanks,

I have been on Boat Us as some of you know, Freebird threads take on a life of their own. Long and the short some of the sea ray carver bayliner owners were cutting on vintage hats so i started to defend our honor, recommend reading some of the posts, i will paraphrase: 57 carver late model...

  17. Star Man Sighting?

I drove home to New Bern from Wilmington, NC late this morning after spending yesterday taking an owner and a bunch of his guests to Bald Head and back on a MY that I run on a failry regualr basis. As I was heading up 17 North, I came up behind a black truck. I couldn't help but smile as it said...

  18. Does anyone know of this boat?

Just arrived at Twin Dolphin Marine in Bradenton, Fl. I believe is a 58' LRC?, approx. '76 or '77 model. Takin it Easy looks like a beautifully maintained and/or redone Hatt. Just ask the wife, I have been drooling since she (TiE) has arrived. Shows to be listed with Bayside Yacht sales but have...

  19. Slip Prices... Whew!

I announced to the marina today that Brigadoon would be leaving her slip permanently on/about May 17. As part of the discussion, I learned that the slip price was going up 1000 bucks for this coming season - to 9600! The season is May-Sep. Then you have to add the 2400 for winter storage and the...

  20. Looking for older 53MY

I have never started a topic on here before but I think I would like to find a good older 53 or 58MY. There are several on Yacht World, but I was wondering if any body knows of any good ones around Daytona or Jacksonville? I see you talking about the market being down, so how much do you think I...
