  1. 2007 Hatteras Yacht Expo

I just wanted to say a few words about this event. Well maybe one, "Fantastic". If anyone here went I think they will agree with me that it was a first class event and Hatteras really knows how to treat their customers well. The party's, demos, and plant tours were all great. Thought I would...

  2. Meet a fellow HOF member last night

Last night I had dinner with Larry Kaplan (MicroKap) as he was here in town on business. We met at the River City Brewery about 8:30PM and were the last to leave the resturant. As in all cases when it comes to Hatt owners, he is a classy guy (OH, he also picked up the check) so if any of you...

  3. Where I will buy my stuff

My pal who builds high end speaker cabinets just turned me on to these guys. Literally 1000's of hard to find high end wood working tools and cabinet making stuff. Gotta see their catalogue to believe it!! ws http://www.rockler.com/ They actually have 1-1/2 and 2" brass footrests and parts for...

  4. West Marine merges with 7-11

Ok maybe not true but I have found them to be the marine variant of 7-11 While looking for an exhaust hose and a step up adapter for it I was informed they do not carry anything that big. This was for my generator. They do not stock exhaust parts over 1.5" diameter. I guess if you are...

  5. How Long Did It Take To Restore Your Hatt?

I viewed a thread a while back which asked, "How long did it take to own your first Hatteras?", and found it to be very interesting reading. With that in mind, along with the fact that I too have a Hatteras in need of some restoring, I thought this would also lead to some interesting and...

  6. Island style

Seen at Nawiliwili harbor, Kauai. When one Whaler isn't enough........ Do you suppose this is what Richard Bertram intended? Boiling schools of Aku (skipjack tuna). Millions of fish, 2-10 pounds each. These schools are acres in size. Lots of bait for Ahi, Marlin, and Mahi.

  7. Yet anther good use for a Hatt

I've been trying for over a year to get someone to try this......yesterday, we got a wild hair and a volunteer....turns out it works pretty darn well! So far it looks like the best setup is port tab up, starboard down, with asymetrical engine thrust. Next, we're going to try a few "fat sacks"...

  8. Its not about a Hatt, but plz help

I just bought a 220B Angler 2001,( like we needed another boat). It has twin 2002 115hp $ stroke EFi's on it. The motors only have 150 hrs on them. They were used and then sat for almost a year, and barely used. On the test run they got to high 4000rpms, but blamed it on poor propage (15P...

  9. Solo Cruising

I don't have friends or family that have time to cruise with me other than long weekends, so I've given thought to cruising the FL Keys and Bahamas by myself. I currently have a 1985 32' Hatteras flybridge sport fisherman that I put new Yanmars and electronics in last year, so she's in great shape...

  10. Big OOPS !

Price of your new, really fancy, motoryacht: $2.5 million Price of strawberries and champagne while waiting on the dock to sign acceptance agreement: $250 Price of huge crane and faulty turnbuckle: $2500 per hour. Yeah, keep reading - you know what's going to happen.....

  11. A great product

I bought a quart of "marine strip" made by Restoration Technology as a friend of mine who works on boats told me I would be impressed. Cost was $18. It is made to clean everything from cushions, power cords and fenders, and anything in between. It is NOT a paint stripper. I told him he...

  14. ICW just north of Beaufort, NC

I will be leaving the lower Chesapeake Bay and cruising NC for 2 weeks this Saturday. I read on the salty southeast website that the primary means to get to Taylors Creek and the Beaufort waterfront was by Russell Slue channel. I am hoping that I misunderstood that. Can I still go down the ICW...

  16. Long distance boat shopping/buying!?

I am curious to hear the good and bad about this. I have read Pascoe's take on the whole evolution when I read his book before buying my current boat. I am in So Cal, and the inventory hear for Hatts and Berts 50-54 ft is smaller by a wide margin than the SE inventory, and pricier in general....

  18. What is this in our 61's exhaust?

Today while removing the old trim tabs, etc., from the Miss Mary Alma, I took a minute to look into the exhausts. What I saw was not pretty -- its appears that "insulation" of some sort, in very poor condition, is coming out of the interior of the exhauts. What is this "stuff" and are the...
