  1. Smile canadian gun laws

Hello all, I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I am hoping someone can provide me with websites to get the regulations/restrictions for having firearms on board while in canadian and mexican waters by non-residents. I will be retiring from the fire service in about 3 years, and moving aboard...

  2. GE Capital stops making boat & RV loans

I read today that effective Aug. 1 GE Capital will no longer be making any new boat loans. I hope this is not a harbinger of future changes in the market. The loss of financing could be the last nail in the coffin if any other players follow suit.

  3. Diesel in the keys at $2.75?!?!??

Last year when we were in the keys we found Diesel at $2.76. Doubt it will be that this year. However had a fellow Hatt owner that just got back from the keys and reported $2.75 a gallon. How'd he get that? Well turns out that a bunch of boaters got together and purchased a whole tanker full....

  4. Wink Newsletter: Boating Product Reviews

Like many of you who have complained in old threads about the lack of meaningful information in just about all boating mags, I concur. However, I have found a diamond in the ruff that I recommend. Being a former sailor, who has now found the comfortable side of cruising, I subscribe to...

  6. Cool 44 Striker

OK, I have a friend that is looking at a 44 Striker. The thing he likes about the boat is that it is aluminum vs fiberglass. Aside from the fact that it is not a Hatt, what are the good, bad, and ugly things about these boats. BTW, I have looked at many of the previous posts related to these...

  7. Anybody Ever Hear Where the Birdman Went?

Its been a long time since we have heard from the famous Birdman that used to fly around this site. Has anyone heard where he is, what he is doing, does he still own both of his Hatteras Yachts? He was a cool guy and too bad he dropped out of sight.

  8. It's boring tonight without Yachtsmanbill

I need to see what's going on at the sub. He should be severely reprimanded for not having internet at the boat. Instead of viewing the Strain thread, I'm sitting here loading music onto my Ipod. I hate electronic do-dads. I'm of the age that I should embrace this stuff, but I don't. I...

  10. Update on Cathrine Mae

Recap. Boat out for bottom job, Yard gouged up the hull with travel lift. Awlgrip paint, FLY. They tried and tried to blend and match contrary to my original recommendation to repaint the whole boat as that is the only way to repair the finish. Well they messed with it all last week with...

  11. You Think People Can't Make a Difference...

.... in gas prices, in our economy, in our nation's future? You want $4, 5, 10 fuel for your boats? Guess what - some people will get off their butts. Here's proof. I'm involved with these folks, and will be at the next one - in DC in June. Stay tuned.

  12. About Our Nation's Energy Consumption

A couple of weeks ago I read where France derives 60-70% of it's electrical energy from nuclear power plants. So I did a little research with Dept. of Energy figures and was surprised at the findings (the latest data is from 2006): About 19.4% of our electricity is generated by nuclear power. ...

  14. Funny Story About Replacing Boat Batteries

Well, this is a funny (read foolish) story about replacing boat batteries and will hopefully serve as a word to the wise. About one month ago, I helped my local mechanic pull all of the 8 8v195 batteries in my 56 MY and replace them with new 8v195's. If I recall the spec sheet correctly, each...

  16. Aetna digital tachs

Has anyone had experience replacing their Hatt oem tachs with Aetna's? I have been having a real go around with getting them to get working correctly with my 4-53's. Jim at Aetna gives me comb's to work with the switchs inside the tachs-and I have reduced the error from about 1500 to high to now...

  17. New Member Saying Hello

I ran across this site a few days ago and decided to join. Just thought I would introduce myself, and I look forward to sharing with fellow Hatteras owners. I too love the old classics as I am one myself according to my ex-wife who decided she wanted something newer with less class. Oh well, I...

  19. Article from 1965

Wasn't even looking for Hatt stuff, and ran across this article. Funny references, such as the "50ft, 100,000 Hatteras", and how the people that buy them aren't real boaters, rather "landlubbers", that journey from power outlet to power outlet, blowing marina breakers....LOL ...
