  1. Has anyone evere seen one of the......

Hatteras sail boats. I know they are rare but I would love to see one one day. I may even convert (as a live aboard) with the 41C tied to it for fishing. I am not sure how many they made but I would hope they are still out there.

  2. Harbor Freight

Just got a 12" sliding compound miter saw with laser guide and a 1 year extended warranty with no questions asked for $142. Not bad for a piece of equipment that will be stored in a dock box in salt air :D

  4. Boat names and what they say about us...

    1. What College Fund? With three out of four boat-owning households making less than $100,000 a year, where else are you going to get the money? 2. Stocks-N-Blonds: Clearly someone still has a job on Wall Street. 3. Anchor Management: The calming effect that boating brings. 4. Sweet...

  5. Another interesting article

Could not have said it better myself...the end is near unless the pubes fundamentally change, which seems unlikely.

  11. God Didn't Make Little Green Zil's

Well, now that it appears that the Feds will own 89% of Government Motors (GM), at 55% Fed and 34% UAW. So GM, formerly aka, well you know, will be required to restructure itself and 'go green' (no, Spartans, sit down), maybe they will launch a new line of Federal inspired cars. Just like in the...

  12. What would you change about your boat's design if you could?

Basic question...What would you change about your boat's design if you could? If you had been part of the design team...what would be changed? I figure this could be a nice low stress discussion...and maybe it will help improve future designs...especially if Hatteras Corporate is listening (no clue...

OK, this keeps coming up in different places, so I'd like to set things straight. I (Freebird) was never banned from this forum (as Doug can attest) but left on my own free will for the good of the forum and as a favor to Doug. It had become an "us" vs "them" deal with the membership, and that...

  19. Long trip capabilities

I am fairly new to the boating world, at least when it comes to sailing and not simply owning. I am interested in learning to take a 40-50 ft. yacht out on some long-stretch voyages in 2-3 years with a somewhat experienced crew. I have long heard of Hatteras' quality of construction and durability...

  20. Replacement elements for stoves...any better alternatives?

Anyone know if there are any higher performance elements I should consider? Anything like the equivalent of a halogen flat top that would plug right in? I do NOT want to replace the cook top, it would be a MAJOR undertaking on the boat...so I'm looking for a simple replacement element...but one...
