  1. Electric Hazard

I'm the 3rd owner of this boat. The PO was an older gentleman in FLL, and had a "Captain" who I assume did work on this boat. I never met him, but I know his name and will not mention it here. I'm replacing the old rope lights with COB LED lighting. Just thought I'd show the quality of that guys...

Hi. I'm one of several Chris Craft enthusiasts who frequent the HOF, though mostly as a lurker. I know a few of you Hatterii are also fond of Chris Crafts, so I thought I'd let you know about the blog I'm doing for my latest, longest and biggest old Chris rehab:...

  3. First trip of the year......

It was quite civilized on the Bay today...... Aside from the battery issue which is "MEL-able" (the aviators will know what that means) and the intercom not working, bad for my OCD but we truly never used it anyways, everything was the way it was running last fall. Pretty happy with that. SB...

  5. Well we made it!!

We left Gulfport April 2 expecting to have a 10 day trip. With the high water on the lower Tennessee tombigee we were lucky to see 6s. The higher up we went the better it got. We went thru twice the fuel as we did last year when we were running with Randy. So we made it. The boat ran well and did a...

  6. Perfection paint shortage

Apparently there has been a shortage of Perfection paint. Finally got enough white to do the boat but unable to finish because no Red and blue for the stripes. Boat is in Eastport Maine and the boating season is short so would appreciate any recommendations.

  8. Meridian Question

I'm bringing a Meridian 580 up the Tennessee river. It has Hynautic steering, but I'm unable to find the fluid resevoir. I've checked all the usual spots and no joy. Any ideas?

  9. Railing Refinish

I used an unfamiliar product to refinish my rails last time.. it didn't last. So I'm stripping bare and after the mineral spirits wipe down, they look so good natural, until the mineral spirits evaporate, I'm thinking of just tongue oiling them.. anybody else gone au natural and how'd it work out?

  10. I think I found the leak!

Late late year we started to see water coming in above the rear valence. It only happened in rain or when we washed the boat. Assumed it was from the aft deck drain hose, so I put a rubber stopper in the drain and put it on the list. The rain here has put the railings on hold, so I decided to fix...

  15. Hydrofluorocarbons and a True Friend

The EPA announced today major new restrictions on refrigerants. Not just any friend would allow you to pop the seal on a brand new jug of R22. I think Im gonna make some room in one of my gun safes for this stuff right after I top off my two OEM 83 units.

  18. Thanks to somebody!

I think I saw a post here about changing the windless gear oil... so I just did... OMG! Looked like a blown head gasket! And some just plain water, and a little gear oil along with the jelly.. sent compressed air into the fill hole and watched what drained with amazement! Might have been the 1st...

  19. Power comes in handy sometimes...

During the repower I (briefly) considered using smaller engines like the B series. This morning coming back home on the bay, I noticed a late model 80 Hatteras MY off my port bow at hull speed but it looked like we were going to cross well ahead. Then at a 1/4 mile out, the captain decides to...
