  1. Onan Generator Problem

Good day to all, Have an Onan generator 7.5 MDJE series and last night when running on the hook opened up the fridge and the light was flickering. Both A/C compressors were running as well. I looked at the voltage meter and saw it swinging between 100 - 125V. Also note the load showed 3200 watts....

  2. Teak Molding Source

I have a 1976 48 LRC that has the normal Afromosia interior of that era. I need to replace a cabinet drawer (long story) and need some of the drawer face perimeter molding. I am referring to the outer edge molding that Hatteras attached to the edge of the plywood panel to act as both drawer trim...

  4. You can't beat cables and levers...

Guy told me about this this morning. This past weekend he took his first trip in his new 2006 Regal 3880. Out in the Sound, one engine began surging between idle and 2000 RPM, regardless of where the throttle was moved. He had to shut it down - at least THAT worked. He's waiting on Regal...

  5. Niad Stabalizer Noise

Hello All I recently purchased a 1985 61' MY with Niad stabilizers I noticed a noise when the system is on kind of an AAAH when the fins move. The other day I had the opourtunity to put the boat in a beam sea while stopped and go down and look at the actuators. There is a noise and a slight...

  6. Interior Wood Finishes

There have been so many threads on here concerning which product to use on our wood that I'm really lost!!! There are so many different ways to go about "doing it" to our wood that I really don't know which way to go. I have on order from Sam's Imron 704C, which I've been told is a...

  7. Stamford Harbor & Guilford Harbor

Has anyone stayed in Stamford Harbor? Any recommendation as to good marina? I was thinking of Stamford Landing Marina. Also, I know Stamford is pretty large city...and kind of industrial, but most of my trip is going to be in quaint towns...thus I was going to go to Stamford for a little...

  8. Electrical Wiring

As I mentioned in my other post on my aft deck problems, I have an outlet that is not working properly and when I checked, it is not wired properly. It only has a hot and a neutral, no ground. Not only that, but the stranded copper wire seems to be about 14 guage. Since I boat in fresh water, I...

  9. a/c cleaning question

i was inspecting my salon a/c due to lack of air flow, the v-bunk and aft-cabin have a simliar situation to a lesser degree. the inside condensor fins are caked with probably 30 years of crud. i tried to snake a vacuum in but there is no way to access this area because of the fan cage bolted...

  13. Unhappy There are times....

when I think that I made a mistake in buying my boat! Don't get me wrong, I love the boat. But, there are things that were missed in the survey that are now starting to bite me in the aft. When I bought the boat, the aft deck, above the aft cabin and at the lower helm was covered with carpet...

  14. Thought boating was supposed to be fun

I've enjoyed the time I've spent on this forum. I've learned a good deal about Hatteras yachts (yours and mine), and I hope I've made contributions that were helpful as well. I've been accused of taking things too lightly by some, and just got flat out cussed by one ole' boy who bought a boat of...

  15. Suspected Transmission oil leak..

In the last few years I've found myself having to add about 3 or 4 quarts of oil on two occassions to one of my M-20 gears. No obvious oil leaks..and I think I properly filled the oil (as measured on the dipstick with the engine at idle) after each oil and filter change. So my question is...where...

  16. Bottom Jobs, 1 coat or 2 coats

I've been checking around the Panama City area for the price of bottom jobs. One marina gave me a price of labor only $14 a foot for one coat and $11 a foot for the second coat. I called the last guy that did the bootom for me when I purchased it 3 years ago to ask how many coats he put on for...

  17. Oil Capacity for 8v92TI

I have read a lot of my service manual, though not all of it yet. I cannot readily find the place where it gives me the capacity of how much oil I need for each engine when changing the oil. I'm sure it's buried in there somewhere, but this book is three huge three-ring binders thick and I just...

  18. Fuel leak on hour meter "sender"

After a run back from Bimini today I noticed a little fuel dribble coming from the hour meter "sender" on my port main (8V92"s). It was behind the rubber boot. Not really sure where on the sender it was coming from. Does anyone know if there is a service kit for this or the whole assembly needs...

  20. Insurance - Good News!

I received my insurance renewal notice yesterday (prayed, opened and paid it!) and, much to my great surprise, the increase was minimal. I own a 1980 58'YF and am insured for full purchase price value, no exclusions, boating in the gulf, the US east coast and The Bahamas. The boat is kept behind...
