  1. New throttle and clutch cabels

Hello Everyone, Getting ready to replace sticking cables, I have been fighting them for years, tried lubricating etc. It's a 1972 53MY, cables are really stiff, sometimes hang up .... real difficult. Friend of mine just replaced cables on 45 Carver said it was not that difficult. Anyone have any...

  3. 48' YF in Bradenton area

Do any of you guys know anything about the 48' YF listed on Yachtworld in the Bradenton area? I saw this boat a couple of years ago, but it wasn't for sale then. Later he went on the market for a too high price but now has dropped to a more attractive price? I'd appreciate information about...

  4. a/c Outboard Strainer

After cleaning the inboard a/c strainer every two hours I decided to go over the side. When painting the bottom the yard did not re-affix the outboard a/c strainer. Before I yell at them I thought I would learn about my options. 1. Can a new strainer be attached to the bottom while in water...

I think I'm becoming a computer geek. I was just educated by my son as to how to put my boats photo in that little box. This post is just to see if I did it right.

  6. steam

I have DD 671Ns in a 80 mod. 43 DC. The engine temps have always been around 175 to 180 when RPMs around 1500 and above. Lately I have one engine creeping beyond 180 to 190 when running at 2300 which I generaly do not but sometimes will to clean bottom etc. I did notice that exhaust did seem a...

  7. Question Refrigerators....Ugh!

Have a 1975 42c, with the original interior in excellent condition. Need to replace the refrigerator, and would like to do so without having to modify the original cabinets. The current fridge is 66" tall, 30" wide, and 29-30" deep. Its a side-by-side, which works well for the boat as it is the...

  9. Baby steps toward the Bahamas

We've been getting used to handling Sanctuary in "baby steps". With a couple of successful overnight trips under her belt, and the experience of CDR on the horizon, we're starting to plan to venture further from the slip with her. Now that Biscayne Bay feels pretty comfortable, the next step is...

  10. Stop button

It's a mystery to me how or why this stuff happens. At the front end of the cruise, the port engine stop button quit working. Midway through, the stb button quit. If it were only one button, I could easily attribute it to a broken button. But both? Then found out that the emergency shutdown...

Ok...have to admit, you guys have sparked my curiosity or perhaps fear....after reading Sky's "No oil pressure...." thread. While cruising in to a lock yesterday my shifters decided not to respond as intended. It is only one of 3 stations and that is the part that I do not get. 15. extended swim platform

Having spent time on Doc G's 61 with the Hatteras built cockpit, I realize its great value. My 43MY has a relatively small swim platform. Any thoughts about adding an extended swim platform (thinking if I could pick-up one from a SeaRay converting to hydraulic or the like!) Rob

  17. hedge for fuel prices?

Considering that I'm just about to start the Great Circle Route in 2 weeks, where we'll probably buy over 5,000 gal. of diesel fuel, and considering that gas prices are falling like crazy, if diesel futures drop like gas, I'd love lock in the lower prices with futures or options on home heating...

  18. How slow is TOO SLOW for 6v92TAs?

Sorry for sooooo many 'newbie" questions, but I am what I am, and make no bones about it... "Displacement" rpms are 1000 (hull speed 8.3 kts & 5/6 gph). "Planing" rpms are 2000 (15.8 kts & 32 gph). Everything/body says 'don't run the motors too long at too low rpm... OK, what's "too long?"
