  1. 32' SF performance

I am looking for information from 32' owners with gas engines in regards to performance, speed, and propsizing. I would like to pick up a couple of knots if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Mike "Hattitude"

  2. Temperature Gauge Accuracy

My 1979 43DC has the OEM electric AC temp gauges. I have always noticed a difference between the lower helm and upper helm readings ... about 10 degrees ... with the lower helm reading higher. Over the years I've used an IF heat gun to check the temps of the br*** sending units and determined...

  3. Clogged thru hulls on my AC's....

Having real problems with seaweed and grass in my AC strainers AND thru hulls. Particularly the thru hulls. We're cruiising down in the Keys and I suspect Alberto plays a role in this new abundance of grass everywhere. Nontheless I'm cleaning these suckers almost every day to keep 'em operating and...

  4. Oil pan rust

My stb. 6-71 has a very rusty oil pan and I'd like to paint it, besides accesing it, whats the best way? You can hardly touch it and I don't see how you can even get underneath it right. It doesn't leak, but I hate seeing all that rust on the pan. Bill

  5. Calling all '85-'87 Hatteras 43MY owners!!!

They have accepted our offer on a 1985 43MY with 671TI/365hp. I am going down to check it out next Sat. I have talked to Karl and he has told me what to check for in the engine room, now I’m looking for Owners of ’85-’87 Hatteras 43MY’s to tell me things to check and things they wished they had...

  6. 15 amp 1 pole 120V breaker

Sorry to ask a tacky question on this forum but I need a few 15 amp 1 pole 120 volt ac breakers to add to my panel. Is there perhaps a less expensive source for these breakers than the $85 per breaker here?

  7. adding/wiring 120v outlet

I'm adding a themostatically controlled outlet in the engine room of our 1977 36C to power pad heater on the engines. Good news is that I have 2 open 120V breakers in the original panel, and no problems snaking wires into panel. Figured out how the black and white (hot and neutral) attach on...

  8. Engine help!!!

I was running the engines up to cruise(1900) when the starboard engine lost power and began to blow massive amounts of black smoke. I backed out and the smoke quit and all gauges were good. I checked the engine room and nothing out of the ordinary. I tried to power again and more black smoke. I...

  10. Under load warm up

There is a thread under the Cat 3208 forum over on boatdiesel that says to reduce the amount of smoke on cold startup on cats you can put one in forward and the other in reverse right after starting up at idle in the slip. They also say the engines warm up quicker. I have never heard or seen this...

  13. GFO repacking

I used the GFO goretex stuffing box packing that came so highly recommended here by several of the members. It was a fairly easy job to tackle, and my only question here has to do with getting the gland nut tension set just right. I did it wrong the first time, as I saw the warning about too much...

  15. What is this in my AC filters???

Greetings all, I'm a livaboard and I installed Hypo air filters a few years back. Highly reccomend them. However, I have to clean the master cabin filter (where I sleep) once a week! My question is what the hell is this stuff? None of the other filters get nearly as dirty. They could go a...

I was going to post this in the bathroom ideas post, but thought it could use a new thread. I am in the process of renovating the bathroom of my '69 45C, and have decided to replace the original formica countertop with granite (or some type of solid surface). Has anyone installed granite in...

  18. '86 Hatteras 32 open

This model seems pretty nice. Especially below for an express model. The few things I don't like are the prop pockets, balsa cored hull, and, I suspect, fiberglass fuel tanks. Does anyone have any real world experience with this model. Performance, handling, core problems. I was originally...

  19. Furuno Radar/Northstar GPS Interface Question

I have just interfaced my northstar 952 XW with my Furuno FCR 1040 radar and my Furuno C-500 heading sensor. All works fine with one exception. The lollipop on the radar displays the first waypoint immediately but if I switch waypoints on the Northstar, it takes 20 minutes for the lollipop on the...

  20. Battery Terminals

Just finished cleaning my battery terminals and replacing all the bolts. I used some spray-on battery terminal cleaner from NAPA.
