  2. Classic Hatteras Values?

I'm new here, but not to Hatteras, having owned Hull # 10 1969 Sports Fish. I've done the search, I have access to soldboats.com, etc. My broker friend tells me the old boats in general are hard to sell, but I just happen to like the pre 1980 boats. Nothing looks better to me than that old picture...

  3. Insurance claim?

I documented my navigational error on another thread. The short story is that I went the wrong side of a marker and hit something hard and bent a set of props, a shaft, and a strut. I was talking to an acquaintance today who is a marine surveyor. He also does inpections for insurance claims. I...

  4. Flowscan Displays

Preface: I've read the previous posts about Flowscans and talked with Craig Willis of Floscan. Here are my questions. Would it make sence to preplace my vintage Hatteras Tachs with side by side Floscan diplays? Craig says one display with a toggle is the typical set up. Has anyone replaced...

  7. Flybridge For 41DC

Hey guys, looks like I may end up in a fire sale situation. Seems the wife wants to start off the new year without me. I love my 58TC, but I may sell her, either that or I'll have something in common with Ed and own half of it. Seriously, my 41DC is more than adequate as a liveaboard, and it...

  8. Layers of Bottom paint

One of the projects I have for spring time is smoothing out the 25 layers of ablative bottom paint I have on the boat. I was sanding a small edge and after the 24th layer, saw a red layer of paint. The red layer of paint was a little harder than the ablative, and a little shiny as well. Could...

  10. Cutlass Bearings

What is the procedure for replacing the cutlass bearings on my 1980 60' Sportfish? Three inch shafts. Any idea what the cost of the parts would be? How many hours of labor? Should cutlass bearing on both shafts be replaced at the same time? Should additional struts be changed as well?

  11. Steering ram

Does anyone know what model or cylinder capacity of the original rudder steering ram on a 1965 41' convertible? Trying to spec an autopilot system and there are no numbers on mine that are readable. I manually ran fluid through the ram and got 210cc's of fluid. That seems too low, but it is not...

I'm looking for recommendations for a davit (11.5 ft Achilles w/15hp) for the flybridge of my 58YF. Don't currently have hydraulic setup but may consider that option. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  14. 32 Volt Raritan Heads Voltage Draw

I have a head that will pop the breaker from time to time especially when the flush button is held in for a long period of time. I am assuming it is drawing too much voltage. Does anyone know the proper draw so I can check it with a meter??

  16. Blinking LED Lights

In an old thread (2005) someone made mention of small battery powered devices with a blinking red light, which effectively leads an intruder into thinking there is an on-board alarm system. Anyone know where I can find these. (I would be hurt if someone stole my Trasco binoculars! ) ...

  17. Keep your G.M. boat all G.M.

I had a rather pleasant surprise this morning. In the midst of finding spin on filter heads to convert from cannister units on my 12-71s secondary units, and having bought an incorrect one on U-BUY, I was about to give up. I called Jimmy Diesel in LaGrange,Il. and the parts guy informed me that...

I have just added two Arrigoni sailfish chairs to the aft deck of my 43 SX. What is the preferable or proper pedestal height for a sailfish chair or fighting chair on an aft deck. Mine are 22" and they seem high.

  20. fuel hose - clamp or fitting?

I need to replace my fuel hoses. I checked the A1 type marine fuel hose. The site says that I clamp them onto the existing fitting. The existing fitting is a 3/8 brass male fitting. I am not too sure if clamping a hose on a fitting with threads will be safe. Any suggestions?
