  1. 3208's

I was speaking with a man today who said he knows of a hatt that runs good, but needs some work. He said it has some 3208's with about 2900-3000 hours on them. He and another person said this is low hours for 3208's and that rebuilds usually start around 6-7000 hours. Is this true ?

  3. Insulation questions?

Getting around to doing the engine room insulation. Took all the old stuff out. That stuff stinks. Going to screw the large removeable floors down. The factory had a grey material on the flats. Sam's may still have that, is there better stuff out there for the flats? I'm sure lots of you have...

  4. Post headliner

Anyone have a solution to cleaning a headliner? It is in good condition but not crisp as it should be. We have tried bleach, oxy clean, majic eraser, etc, but it appears blotchy and not real white. The next step seems to be painting it. No, don't panic, they do make a vinyl paint just for this...

  5. 43 SX - step or no step

Sorry to ask a design question but this is sort of my first open boat with an aft cockpit. The distance from the coming pads to the deck is too great, in my estimation, not to have a ladder in the boat or some sort of deck step box. There is no way the Admiral is going to step on the covering...

  6. helm seat photos

One of our forum members emailed me these, wanting to find a similar helm chair for his Hatteras. I've (hopefully) resized them and posted them here, if I've done this right. Does anyone recognize this chair? I thought it might be a Todd or a Pompanette. Post here as a reply if you know what it is...

  7. NAIR or wax?

Since HATT TRICK spent the summer in NOLA she grew quite a mustache from the water on the Industrial Canal / Lake Ponchatrain. This happened over about the first hour. You typically see this on boats that have made a LONG river run.The boat was painted with AWLGRIP about 5 years ago. Being a Lake...

  9. The official word on Xantrex 32v smart chargers

Bad news... I received the following reply to an email I sent to Xantrex, asking that they consider marketing a 32v smart charger along the lines of their 12v TrueCharge 40, with equilization function: Hi, I got your note about the requirement for 32v chargers. Xantrex did a thorough...

  10. Dupont Imron 3.5 HG

I have a 1963 34 SC that I wish to repaint the hull, cabin, etc. Further, I wish to paint it by brush. Back in the days of wood, I learned how to paint by brush from the Egg Harbor and Pacemaker people. Trust me, it can be done to look as good as a spray job. I did contact Hatteras recently to ask...

  11. Hot water tank cleaning?

Good day everyone. My hot water tank isn't getting up to the temp it used to. I plan on changing the element out tommorrow. This one is about two years old. However, it seems that the water pressure on the in hose side is really making the hose bulge and when I turn on my hot water, it seems...

  12. new propulsion thred

Just read the new Maritime Reporter (told you so!) about jet drives. No rudders, and best of all, usually, no reduction gears. Shafts are now inside the boat ( exposed or in tunnels ), U-joints for alignment, and little chance for running gear damage, AND be able to beach the boat as long as...

  13. Manual bilge pump

I removed the non functional (original I think) manual bilge pump from my pump room (center) bilge, and was going to pitch it and replace it with a modern one. Before I bought a new one, I took it home and dissassembled it, and all it needed to function was a new flapper valve. So I said "what the...

  14. Propshaft bonding brushes

I went under yesterday to check my zincs and 4 of my 6 propshaft zincs needed replacing after only 10 weeks in salt water. They were 3 years old in fresh water, but they still looked perfect a year ago and we have only been on salt water since November, The engine zincs, raw water pump zincs and...

Hello, Just Purchased 1973 38dcfb/DDpower. Have many Questions, but first this vessel interior has been neglected. Can someone advise on what products and tehniques work best on the wood. It seems alittle faded compared to the other Hatteras I've seen. Thanks

  17. Replacement window color

I am replacing the sliding windows on 36 sedan. Any suggestions on what color I should paint the outside trim? Original is "black" - not sure exactly what color it was. Does anyone know. I am considering powder coating it with the Hatteras white. Appreciate thoughts and suggestions.

  18. Question concerning replacement of Helm Chair and Anchor

I am in the process of replacing my Helm Chair on the Flybridge of my 53my and have seen a ladder back style from Todd that looks appealing(see link below) This same style is available from Pompanette, but runs about twice the price. Does anyone have experience with either of these manufacturers?...
