  1. A/C Compressor not even trying to start

Well I got the salon a/c unit working by getting the water flow up to par. But the bow a/c unit just doesn't even try to start it did a little now not at all. I can hear the relay click on then click off but the compressor (seperated units) does not budge. Anybody have some detailed...

  3. Another one for the expurts: Morse Chargicator reading low

I don't know if Hatteras used Morse Chargicators back in the day, but my old Connie is equipped with one and it's recently started acting up. These days, with folks going to Outback 3232 inverter chargers with remote panels, it might seem odd to be concerned about an old gauge going on the fritz,...

  4. Amplifier help!

I need help in determining what kind of an amplifier I need: I have a sony marine stereo, 4x52W, connected to a speaker selector, which can run the deck speakers (2 150W 4 ohm), bow (2 100 W 6 ohm) or swim platform speakers (2 150W 6 ohm) in any combination I like. I only run one area at a...

  5. Adjusting transmission cable linkage

My port transmission shifts fine from the pilothouse but is intermittent going into forward gear from the bridge. If I move the lever forward to the stop on the bridge there is another inch or more of travel at the lower helm. Are these cables adjusted at the helms or at the transmissions? Any...

  6. trans. pressure gauge

Anyone have a source for a new or used "AC" trans pressure gauge. I'm sick of having to bang it to have it read correctly. Sams says they're no longer available. Thanks.

  8. Atlantes Freedom head question/53MY

I know we've done this to death and that I have asked some of the questions myself but I have several more: Did the Atlantes head fit with no additional holes being made to the bulkhead for the hoses? I assume that the oem GM pump is no longer used and that the output of the master toilet...

Hi All, I'm still looking for the classic all teak steps. I've seen them in 2 and 3 step models. All teak ie sides steps etc......look at the steps in the upper right side of the picture attached. You usually see them going from a cockpit to a helm area or helm are down into the salon.....

  10. We spent Friday and Sat night on the boat at Demopolis

While we were here in Mobile I bumped the rubber vent that is at floor level and I removed and fixed it.On Sat after we made a short run on the river I saw that the port vent cover was missing.Looks like someone just walked by and jerked it off .All of the screws were intact but the cover is...

  11. Panish Controls

Hi all, I am lucky enough to have a Palm Beach Pod with Panish Controls on my 53 conv. However, the boat has hardly been used for years and I am having an issue with "finding" neutral on the controls. The indent for neutral is so slight that quite a few times I have found I am in gear,...

  12. Fresh Water Pressure adjustment

Is there any sort of pressure switch that will allow the high/low cutoff/on to be somewhat closer? The standard switches I have used are essentially 20PSI apart. You can shift the entire range - go from say 20/40 to 30/50 - but you can't change it to 30/40. I would like to get it closer; any way...

  13. fuzzy antennae

Is there a way to refurbish old fiberglass whip antennaes? Have a couple that are full of fuzz - those shards of glass that are just plain nasty. Is this a sanding then sealing (with something) project perhaps?

  14. Teaching a New Hatt Owner

I have purchased a new to me extended 61' Hatteras. Does anyone know of a specialist that could teach me the boat from stem to stern? The seller (very nice person) was supposed to take me through the yacht but has not had time (family issues out of town) and I am wanting to get it done. I have...

  17. Speaking of holding tanks...

The forward holding tank on our 53 was converted to a fuel tank by the original owner when the boat was new in 1980. I drained the diesel out of it some years ago but never actually put the tank back in holding service. So I'm wondering about the difference in its configuration as a holding...

  18. Check your hoses!

Quite by accident we discovered an oil hose problem last night that could have led to a minor (or major) catastrophe. I was cleaning the bilge under one engine and noticed that a 14 ft long oil hose from the engine to a remote oil cooler was a mess (see pics). We removed this hose and it simply...

  20. Transom portlights

My 13"x24" port lights are pretty much toast. 2 of the dogs are broken and whatever that finish is on them is cracking off. I am not crazy about them to begin with and am even less so now that I know they cost 1700 bucks ea to replace. Anyone have an alternative? New Found Metals has some...
