  1. Engine power loss solved

As some of you know, I am doing the Great loop in my 1973 43' DCMY. I have had a problem with occasional power loss on the port engine, generally while running in rough seas. I found algae in the fuel line to the port engine Racor, so had the fuel polished and the lines blown out, however, the...

  4. Researching new electronics

My Raymarine RL80 has been getting "iffy" the last 2 seasons, including having the face plate detach from the body - it's mounted on 19 tiny plastic posts with small screws, and 14 of the posts have broken. Of course, Ray won't even talk to me since around 2007 (I paid 10k for the system in 2004),...

Hello listees, My 1983 Hatteras 48 motoryacht has three head exhaust fans and the same exhaust fan over the stove in the galley. The circuit breaker which covers all of them as well as the port side AC electrical outlets is on the AC panel. The original electrical schematic for the boat...

  6. Towing Boston Whaler

I would like to tow a 1972 13 ft Boston Whaler/25hp Yamaha motor behind a 1972 53ft MY. I have a single centerline eye on the whaler and two sampson posts on the MY. I would be towing at +/- 9 knots in Galveston Bay and would not see more than 3-4 ft waves typically. Couple questions: 1. Should...

  8. Voltage Controlled Switch

On the tricky issue of charging the 32 volt starting bank from an inverter/charger dedicated to the house bank, here is a device (Voltage Controlled Switch) I am considering. It could be set to close the parallel relay whenever the house bank reaches charging voltage, say 35.2 volts, and open the...

  13. Water Tank Level Gage

My '72 36 C appears to have a fiberglass water tank. I do not know how big it is, but it serves as a walking platform when servicing engines. No leaks, but the level gage located under the steps is hosed. Suggestions on how to fix, replace??

  14. Fly bridge oil pressure gauges on 1969 41C

Went down to the boat last weekend and found a slow moving waterfall of motor oil coming off the fly bridge deck. 16. Fuel Burn 36c 6-71Ta

Guys, I am trying to estimate the fuel burn of a boat I am very close to purchasing. Its an 84 36C with the 671ta's. My mechanic is advising that 1700 to 1800 rpm should put me between 16 and 18 knt with and estimate of 1mpg. does this sound about right?

  17. Items needed to bring 53 ft Yachtfish home?

Well, After several months of looking and negotiating we are bringing home a 53 ft YF. We were down to 3 different boats all three were aware of the other two. We effectively had them "bidding" against each other to lower the price. We ended up at a very good price point. The owner of the boat...
