  3. Some sort of regulator on raw water line to the mixing elbow

I regret I did not take the photograph of it to post but i shall next weekend. On my 1980 DD 6-71 NAs I have some sort of contraption on the raw water line going from the heat exchanger exit to the exhaust gas mixing elbow that i have no clue what it is for. It is plastic tube about 6 inches in...

  4. DD 6/71 NA - Removing the heat exchanger core from expansion tank

I've opened up my cooling system. the coolant side looks clean and blockage free. Te coolant color looks pinkish and I'll test it with testing strips tomorrow. The raw water side is a bit of a bummer. The inlet and outlet pipes and flanges have heavy buildup of calcium or whatever that is. I can...

  5. Love the block heaters

installed the Kim Hotstarts over the summer and just got to really try them this week. They're plugged into a digital wall thermostat so I can set and maintain the air temperature by keeping the engines warm. It's 23 degrees outside and at 55 degrees air temp the blocks are warm to the touch and...

  6. Block heater capacity DD 6-71

Are 400W 115V block heaters sufficient to keep the DD 6-71 warm, not hot as I do not intend on heating the engine room by keeping the block heaters on, just to facilitate the starting in winter when i kick the engines every couple of weeks. From your experience, how long would it take to warm the...

  7. Radar up-date

I just installed a new radar in my 1995 43 cnv. I should have noticed before butt!! My new radar is 24 volts and there is nothing in the vessel that requires that voltage. My first thought is to put 2 12 volt batteries inside my console and add a battery charger to keep them up. AGM batteries...

  8. Parallel Switch

I had the need to use the parallel switch this weekend. My starbord battery bank is dying, which explains some other issues. On my model, 87 63 MY, the switch works by tilting toward the bank that needs a boost. I've never had the need to use the switch before, and when both battery banks are good,...

  9. Outback 3232 Inverter Installation

To all you inverter experts. I've bought an Outback 3232 Inverter/charger for my 53 MY and would like to install it before next spring launch. Not wanting to re-invent the wheel, did any of you make and or keep a wiring schematic of how the inverter is tied into the boat's electrics. ie. the...

  10. Should have trusted HOF

The swim platform was in need of refastening to the transom on my 43DCMY. The lag screws were stripped and not holding. I had the boat hauled and the marina ( Marine Max) suggested that they would replace all attachments through the transom with thru bolts sealed with nuts on the inside. I...

  12. Electric One Way Valve

Pardon the general description of the problem. Working here from memory. I want to be able to leave the breaker on for my 110v fresh water pump even when I am connected to dockside water. 13. Winterizing question - ice maker and wet bar only

The good news is that I finally got the wet bar and the ice maker on my aft deck plumbed and working this year. For whatever reason neither were connected to the water lines when I got the boat. The bad news is now I need to figure out how to winterize these items. Near as I can tell they are...

  14. bad pump day

First one to stop working was the water pressure system pump, which I have to take out and bring to Groco in Kent Island for a rebuild. Second to go was the Jabsco 34600, the manually switched one that strips the bilge dry. Third to go was the Rule 2000 in the bilge sump. Locked up....

I have Covington modified 671tib and I need to remove the top of the inner-cooler where the turbo air goes in. Since western branch diesel is worthless I thought I would start here. Can anybody tell me where I could buy a new gasket.

  20. Electric help please!

Hey guys, This morning my alarm rang and I lost power to ac #2 panel. When I put the transformer 2 breaker in the off position the light up top comes on, but when it's in the on position the light goes out. No power either way. The dock breakers are on. Any ideas?
