  2. Galley Refit

Well it's time- I said I'd embark on a galley refit when the next appliance died and it happened. It was the oven. My folks came over Easter weekend and we removed the old appliances - original oven, cooktop, and dishwasher (not sure if dishwasher was original but it was quite old). After...

  4. Clogged engine strainer

Went for a cruise this weekend and the port engine overheated. Turns out the strainer picked up so much debris it was fully impacted. I have never seen anything like it. I assumed the impeller would be toast but it was fine. See my other post about that. The port engine got to 220 degrees...

  7. Watermaker

With the price of water in the Bahamas, I am thinking of replacing my INOP Sea Recovery system with new. Who makes a good unit that is affordable and low maintenance? I think I will want 1200 g/day with automatic function. Thoughts, ideas? Tony

  8. bilge pump voltage question

Many years ago, I added a Jabsco diaphragm pump to the bilge pump array in my Hatteras. All the other pumps ever on the boat were centrifugal pumps, which will not strip the bilge dry, as they will not generate suction. The Jabsco pump, which was the largest they made, with 1" inlet and outlet...

  9. KVH vs Intellian

I am planning to purchase a new small KVH or Intellian sat dish and am looking for information on one versus the other brands. Also, where is the best place to buy one? I have heard that KVH will treat you like dirt if you did not buy it from an "authorized" dealer even though KVH sells new...

  10. How many 8D batteries

I have a 1979 43DC with 6-71Ns. There are two 8D batteries in each bank. Port bank for engine and genny. Starboard bank for engine and house panel. 1400 CCA each battery. My question is: do you really need two 8D's to start an engine? I use the boat year round here in South Carolina, temps...

  12. My turn for water leak

The floor in front of master head had a spot of water on it. I tried to ignore it for days but it was growing. It turns out the tub drain was installed with silicone caulk. The nut on the bottom wasn't holding anything. I need a huge fender washer for the bottom to snug up the drain, and a...

  16. Galleymaid Fresh Water Pump

My Galleymaid 32v pump comes on and cuts off when pressure is correct. Go wash hands and it works great. Hop in shower and it kicks on several times and then "flips" the breaker. Any suggestions?

  17. Block Heaters on the fritz

Does any one recognize these block heaters. Both are bad. Corrosion has set in and when I turn them on at the breaker, I can hear an electrical arcing at the probe. I have JT 671TI in my 1981 37C. The probes are installed just behind what appears to be a fuel pump(not positive). Pictures...

Good Morning: Does anyone have any experience with having a 46 or 45 Convertible trucked along the Eastern portion of the US? 19. does it take less power to run heat as opposed to AC?

I'm on the boat for a while doing some work. It's 33F degrees outside, water temp is 41F and I have all 4 heat/ac systems running. Here's my question... Does it take less current to run the oem cruiser units on heat as opposed to AC? I would have thought it would be the same since, as I...
