  1. Non Bleach Mildew Buster

Anybody used this?: chompproducts.com/mildew.htm A recent article in USPS Ensign states that it's good stuff. But you have to order it which I hate (if it's so good why is it not on the retail store's shelf?). Responses are appreciated.

  2. Sanitary hose replacement - Mission Impossible

Re my 1988 40' DDMY: Decided to upgrade ancient and original head system before old age and failure causes the nastiest mess imaginable. We are in the process of removing the old Sea Land pump motors and updating with new Seacoast "swish" vacuflush systems (as I understand it Seacoast aquired...

  3. Has anyone used ISSO Mold & Mildwew Remover??

A canvas shop owner told me that it contains no bleach and works great but I would very much like to hear from the Forum first. Frankly, there have been past discussions on mildew and a search failed to turn up any comments on IOSSO. For that matter it wouldn't hurt to learn of any other new...

  4. Gel Batteries

I'm sure this has come up somewhere in distant past but it would take days for me to find it - thanks for understanding. I am considering replacing my group 8D lead acid batteries with gel batteries. My late model Charles battery charger has an optional switch over for gel and gas mat. Frankly, I...

  5. Seacoast Services, Inc. Seaford, NY

These fine folks boast a new and quiet replacement for the old Sea-Land (choo-choo train) vacuum pumps. The price seems to be significantly lower than the rebuild kit previously offered by the aforementioned and now defunct(?) supplier. I would be very interested and appreciative if anyone in this...

  6. Old halon system in bilge

Recently a Power Squadron/USCG Safety Inspection revealed that my manual/automatic old halon fire suppressant system - in the engine room - is out of date. (4 other current portable units were ok and the boat passed inspection). A new 500 cu. ft. manual/automatic Fireboy HFC-227 is going to run...

  7. Material/Fastner Installer Modification Device - 101

After many years of chipping small bits of gelcoat, creating fractures and otherwise manifesting poor workmanship, I have finally reached the conclusion that really don't know what I'm doing. Ok. That admitted, (I'm embarrassed to ask) how do you drill a small hole in fiberglass/gelcoat, about...

  8. ECS Electric Cordsets - the Hight Tide marine power cord

Made in Cleveland they offer the "High Tide" yellow 50', 125/250 Amp power cord for $256.00 (elecordset.com). Is anybody in the Forum using this most incredibly affordable device? Doesn't the manufacturer of these devices have to comply with some authority as the The ABYC? or USCG standards?...

  9. Blinking LED Lights

In an old thread (2005) someone made mention of small battery powered devices with a blinking red light, which effectively leads an intruder into thinking there is an on-board alarm system. Anyone know where I can find these. (I would be hurt if someone stole my Trasco binoculars! ) ...

  10. Marinco vs. Furrion - 50' 125/250V Shore Power Cord

This item is about $740 at WM and $657 at Defender. However, Defender also offers something called Furrion which sells for $495 And the sales desk guy says that they seldom get returns or complaints on either product. My question is has anybody had good or bad luck with Furrion? Thanks, Bill

  12. Rub Rail Screw water problems? Thinking of using a rubber grommet.

Since I'm working on my rub rails I'm thinking about using a rubber grommet between the screw and the stainless steel rail. What do you think? I think it would seal out the water problem better than calking.

  13. Help painting the hull mistake? Hubby might kill me that I'm taking on too much!

Hello, New to painting boats, just made the mistake of doing a little sanding on my 1966 50' hatteras, after finding out I should have deglazed the wax off first. Thank goodness it really wasn't a lot of the boat. Is that going to make that big difference before I deglaze the rest of my yacht. I...

  14. Bad TAC(s) - Glendenning

During a recent trip up the intercoastal, coming through the Albemarle sound in NC, my starboard side TAC went out. The sync continued to work, until I disengaged it at the other end of the sound.... then it would not re-engage - we had to come home w/o the Glendenning. Having never worked on a...

  15. Won't Plane out!

So... I purchased a 43MY last September and brought it up the ICW - what a blast. It ran great - all systems go. After arriving in Annapolis, MD where she resides today... I realized I had some heavy smoke from the port side! So, I made the decision to have the port side motor re-built. I also...
