  1. Anchors

Ahhhh the big debate..... Struggling trying to decide which anchor to buy. My Hatt has a Danforth onboard. I was also "given" a Delta anchor. I've had a couple of bad experiences with the Delta. It generally holds well but has cut loose twice on me and dragged. I'm not sure twice is enough to...

  2. 20KW generator recommendations

I have redundant 20KW generators - both 1988 Onans, with >6,000 hours on the clock and sound shields. While both run well, I’m dealing with a pesky heat exchanger leak on the forward gen where basic parts are near impossible to come across. It’s beyond time to replace at least one on the onans,...

  3. Marquipt Aluminum mounting brackets

I decided to go deep and increase the bling on the boat and swap these out for stainless steel. The aluminum retail for $118 each. The stainless is over 300 each. I’m gonna let these go for $100 for both of them plus shipping. They could use a nice polish to bring back the mirror finish but they’re...

  4. Tinting the galley and salon windows in my 1992 65ft motor yacht

So, the tinting on the windows in the galley and salon of my 1992 65ft motoryacht is giving up the ghost, as in flaking and peeling off. I am in the Panama City area and had a heck of a time finding someone that would tint boat windows. Found a guy but he doesn't usually work on boats and has no...

  6. Pre-purchase 1984 Hatteras 36 Convertible - Questions

Good morning all, I'm Italian new forum joiner, I used to own a couple of Boston Whalers (17 first and 22 until last november) and I would like to step up significantly in dimensions and the chance to spend more time at anchor and cruising in the Mediterranean sea. I saw different boats from a...

  8. Bow thruster 1979 58 y/f

Hello, looking to install a bow thruster soon. Thought I might be able to use the hydraulics from the stabilizers, but was told its not strong enough. So I guess I need to go electric. Anyone here done one and if so what brand? I use to run a boat with a hydraulic and was great.

  9. Location of AC Bus Bars 1984 61MY Circuit tripping

The lower starboard side AC circuit is tripping. Boat was modified 10 years ago and each AC circuit now has its own GFCI. Has worked flawlessly until this week. 10. 32V Starting issue, question

Today, I had an interesting problem when I went to start the engines (DD 471's). When I push the start buttons, I got a loud click click click from the solenoids on the starters, but neither engine would crank. I noticed the Sentry charger sounding a bit strange. It would come on (hum) for 1...

  12. Larger rudders for 53MY

I have seen only one 53MY where they replaced the rudders with slightly larger surface area rudders. I never talked to the owner to see if/how much this helped. Many have complained about the steerage in a following sea and I have to agree that the rudders seem small for a boat of this size. ...

  14. Thru hull seacock

Sams has the original seacocks that we’re installed when the boats were new. I bought 2 - 2 1/2” valves and thru hulls. According to the guys at Sams these are better quality than the Groco valves for about the same price. The seacock was about $800.00. Not sure why I need this quality...

Now that we've got her closer to home, we're starting to make headway on our ginormous to-do list. Next up are the little courtesy lights about knee-high under the covered side decks.
