  1. Hurricane Coming - Line system recommendations

Given the upcoming storm on the east coast, just wondering if there are any recommendations or resources for secure line placement for those of us who keep their boats in the water. On a similar subject, any experience with the piling mounted systems that compensate for tide changes? Thank you. ...

  2. 12V71TI Alternator Stopped Charging

I've just noticed the port 12V71TI alternator appears not to be charging. Ive used a clamp meter to check current on both wires leading to the alternator with engine running 850 RPMs. Also on a recent 3 hour trip the radar appeared to be draining the batteries looking at wheelhouse voltmeter. ...

  3. Another grounding issue

I seem to have a DC grounding issue on SB engine. Looked at my wiring diagram from Sam's not a great view from a grainy fax scanned wire detail. 4. 6v92ta Oil Leak Question

Stbd engine, my problem child. I have oil oozing down the left side. Appears to be coming from behind the starter. Not coming from valve cover. I already replaced that gasket. All I can figure is it may be from the air box covers. 2 questions: where else could it be coming from? If it is...

  5. Glendenning

On my boat, the Glendinning synchronizer works well, but the only switch to engage/disengage it is on the flybridge. Is that standard? Or maybe the PO added it later and didn't bother with a switch at the helm. Can I simply wire a second switch in parallel at the helm?

Hello, just curious if anyone has ever installed Bennett drop fins on their tabs. If so, was there a noticeable increase in stern lift. Thank you.

  8. Change fuel gauges to dipstick

The fuel barge delivered 725 US gallons or 2900 litres of diesel today. I had been expecting 900 gallons or so based on the fuel gauges. Fuel barge swore both tanks were full and left. Based on the fuel barges calculations and hours used over the past year the average fuel consumption per hour...

  12. Wow, First Trip

I finally drove my Hat! Just a 5 hour trip, but I finally drove it! I wasn't part of the 1800 mile trip from St Louis. Everything functioned perfect. I love driving from the fly bridge. Next weekend is an overnight, and a couple weekends after that, an ocean voyage. I am getting close to the day...

  13. Moving Raw Water Intakes on a 52 Convertible

Good Morning All: Being on the backside of winter, here in MD, I'm thinking about the projects I'd like to complete this spring. Although I have nary a complaint about my 52 Convertible, I hate the placement of the Raw water intakes. Their location makes winterizing much more difficult than it...

  15. Radar arch lights

I would like to install new LED lights in my radar arch. The imtra lights I selected are a 1/4 inch larger than the previous so the cut outs will need to be widened. Any thoughts about how best to expand the diameter in the aluminium arch? My first thought was a deburring bit on my drill. ...

  16. Gotta love California

Here it is only the 5th of Feb. and winter is just getting going and the geniuses here just starting charging us for the “summer” blend of gasoline. The beauty of that is the price goes up about 12 cents a gallon and surprise diesel fuel also goes up even though nothing is done to the diesel for...

  18. Need Some Chain

I'd like to come up with some more chain. I currently have just 50' of 1/2" chain with 320' of 3/4 3-strand nylon. I haven't anchored much with this boat, but I think I'll probably be doing more of that in the future. And, I'd also like to be able to handle non-hurricane blows on the hook...

  19. On Plane

When I drove the boat the first time, we opened it up WOT and got on plane relatively quickly, and were doing 19 knots. I felt it set down and drive differently. The second attempt, later in the trip didn't quite make it on plane, and we were doing 17 knots. I did use trim tabs both times. What is...
