  1. Using West System with Aluminum channel

Working on rehabbing the hatch to the bilge we walk on to get in the salon on my 1985 32ft FB. It flexes a lot when we walk on it because the core was waterlogged. I want to encapsulate birch plywood with west system to reinforce it but instead of putting the hinge bolts through the wood I want...

  2. Best source for zinc anodes

It seems I need some replacement zincs, is there a preferred place to buy them? I need 4 for the Wesmar thrusters, a couple for the shafts and some discs for the rudders and tabs. Some need replacement ASAP others can wait a bit, but I want them all on hand. Thanks.

  3. Looking for this Gate Bracket

This is a little bracket that lets the opened rail gate rest and keeps it from teak-against-teak and getting mold etc. build up. Can't find anything similar anywhere - Sam's has no idea. A clever substitute would also be welcomed.

  4. Hours on Detroit Diesel

I am looking to buy a Hatteras and most have Detroit Diesels. 1980-1990 year models 58-70 ft. How many hours before they wear out? Is sea water intrusion the main cause of the engines needing to be replaced? How do you prevent that? Any model of DD that is on a do not buy list? Would...

  6. Stuck Water Filter Canisters: Suggestions?

These filters are for my water maker which I haven't used since I bought Aslan about four years ago. I recall the cartridge canisters were stuck then. I think they'll rip the screws from the bulkhead if I apply any more force. Anyone have any ideas on how to un-stick them?

  7. Capitol Gear Manuals

I checked the site to verify maintenance information on Lilly Marie's 10200 Capitol Gears. If its here I couldn't find it, but did find a web site with Capitol gear manuals http://capitolmarinegear.com/manuals-part-lists BTW it recommends 30wt oil, I've been using 40 as used in the Detroits

  8. Rebedding the glass in the Window Frame

I have some Hatteras windows in need of being rebedded. The frames are in good shape but there are leaks between the glass and frame. I realize this is a labor intensive project and will need to be outsourced. What would be a reasonable cost per window to have the glass pulled, cleaned, rebedded...

  9. Cleaning salt water scum out of the bottom of toilet bowls

I think I have tried everything to get the scum from the salt water that sits in the bowl for flushing. Anybody know of a product or a method to make them look like the ones at home? Mine are Galley Maid.

  12. Detriot Disel question

I have hoses running from my air box drains into containers. How much oil should I get in about 100 hours of run time. I know it will vary based on the condition of the engine, but how much is to much and how much would be considered normal? John

  13. Floscan metering

Floscan fuel metering is out of business. I have a bad guage, and the parts are scarce. I know it is the guage, because I swapped the two. Any body have a best guess on parts, or opinion on new system. I have become dependent on the total fuel burn portion, and they were pretty darn accurate....

  14. Engine Alternator Belts

I am trying to locate spare belts for my 8v71ti engines. The manual calls for DD 5101500, but I saw a reference in the forum to Gates 7470, which seems the right dimensions, though, they are cogged. I haven't been able to locate a matched set under the original PN (5101500), so I think I will have...

  15. 32v Bulbs

I know this gets asked a lot. What are the bulbs for the nav lights on the sides, the stern light, the mast light, and the side deck overhead lights? The side decks (and aft deck and showers) have Perko domes, and I believe they use 32v 1228 bulbs. Is this also true for the port and stbd nav...

  17. Flushing HE in Place - Genesis process question

I'm going to try the in place phosphoric acid flush process. I've done the muriatic acid dd method a few times with no major problem. Last time was about 3 seasons ago, so I'm probably due, although my temps are fine - even out at the edge mid summer. My question is this: do you typically flush...

Need some help with this. I know it is a transformer of some type, but what is it for. I found it attached to a plug under the pilot house helm. There were no wires attached, but it is warm to the touch. Only thing I can think of i s it may have something to do with the non functioning...

  19. Washer and dryer

You guys that have Bosch dryers are yours ventless? I am looking to replace ours and all the Bosch dryers seem to be ventless and require a lot of air space around them which our boat installations do not have. A couple of others brands also are ventless. Need suggestions. Thanks John
