  1. Exhaust sys

I have a monel pipe, perhaps 8" in dia, which runs behind each 8-71. Raw water and exhaust gas is fed into the pipe (I believe gas feeds into an "inner" pipe and is cooled by raw water in the "outer" pipe. The pipe is "T" shaped. Raw water and gas flow outboard to the "T," combine and then head...

  3. Stop by and visit us at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show

If you're going to be at the boat show next month, please be sure to stop by and pay us a visit. We'll be at the Hatteras display - probably somewhere near the Hatteras Collection merchandise sales area.

  4. removing the weather curtains on 43' motoryacht

Has anyone had any experience in removing the "weather curtains' i.e. the pieces that go from the teak rails to the deck on the aft deck of the 43' motoryachts. I have to remove them to get them painted.:D

  5. More Gas

I was wondering if Hatteras had a recomended placement for additional fuel tanks on a 1985 32SF before I try to rig something above the deck? The current 265gal tank is a bit small and I'd like to add about 100 additional gallons in some way shape or form. Any ideas??

  6. Operating RPM for 6-71ti

Hello, This is my first post on this site so I hope I'm not starting with a dumb question. I just bought a 1981 37c w/ 6-71ti rated @ 390 hp. Had my mechanic go through a full tune up. Engines are healthy and have 1700 original hours on them. Was told by mechanic that if I ever want to get...

  7. Boat sold...on to the 53MY!

Yesterday our 36 Mainship sold (pending survey, of course) to the first person who looked at it. This was great news because we had decided to sell our current boat before proceeding with our plans to purchase a 53MY. There are several 53's we are looking at, including one down on the...

  8. I need parts. Where to look?

I recently purchased a 34' SC The bridge windshield and one of the end clips got trashed in transit. Also there are some cracked windows and damaged window trim. The "visor" over the wheelhouse is not original, and replacing the fiberglass bridge might make more sense than attempting to repair it....

  9. port lights 1968 Hat Tri-Cabin

Looking for port lights for a Hat Tri cabin 44. They are cast aluminum and two different sizes. Anyone know where some used units might be that are in good shape? Seems no one is making new ones that fit the same pattern.

  10. A year living aboard: a few thoughts...

Tomorrow will make it exactly a year since bought my boat and moved aboard. Guess what? I absolutely don't regret it; in fact, I wish I had done this before. Even after a year, every time I come home the minute I step on the dock in the evening I still gets this odd feeling that I'm on...

  11. Torn between 43C and 45C

Looking at two boats and trying to decide which to buy. One is a 1979 43C and the other is an 1985 45C. Asking price on both are close in the 250K range. The 43' is much cleaner. I will probably want to eventually re-power whichever one I get as I would like the extra speed. I am told that the 45...

  12. CYCA members' rendevous and judging

This past weekend, I took Blue Note, my 36 convertible, to the annual judging rendevous of the Classic Yacht Club, which is based here on the Chesapeake Bay. This club is unusual in that it actively encourages folks with classic fiberglass boats to join- it is not for wood boats only. So we have...

  13. Refitting Electronics- Where to Look?

It's time to bite the bullet and update my early 80's vintage electronics. Chartplotter, Radar, DF, VHF. Autopilot. I kind of like these new networked devices but am also looking for value. The salespeople at West Marine, Boat/US & Boaters World really don't impress me. There must be some...

  15. Props for 36c

I am doing some work on my 72 36c and want to take the props off to be worked on. I believe that they are not correct for my engines. The boat has the original Chris Craft prepared 427 Ford gas motors with Paragon drives. I cannot get the engines to turn over 3000 rpm. Can someone help me with the...

  16. Fuel Burn on DD 671

We're buying a 1976 43 Double Cabin with DD 671 w/o turbo. What can I expect for fuel burn? What should my cruising RMP run? I'm new to diesels. Coming from a 37' Cruisers with twin 7.4 Murcruisers, so I've got a lot to learn.

  17. Ground Fault Detector Outlets

Curious...I have some Ground Fault detector outlets in stalled on my '72 43' MY, which has the 110v only, coming in with 50 amp 110v one leg and the neutral. Are the Ground Fault detector indicated. Any ABYC protocols on them? Thanks.

The Hat' has a 8kw Onan generator (1996 year) has anyone installed a set of remote gages for oil pressure and temperature (or other functions) in or near the electrical panel in salon so when you start it up and during running they can be occasionally checked. I am currently considering purchasing this boat. 1986 41' w/ 671's -1200 original hours. Many updates and very clean.
